Re: Exhaust popping sound

Every one I've heard does this. I bought GT500s partly because they do this the least. It's tacky and ricey on a street car but, other people say they like it. To each his own.

I like it as long as its accompanied by a deep rumble and not raspy. I'm leaning towards the borla s type for my 13 gt

Every car does it to an extend... Hell, my truck with stock exhaust does it when i rev on a somewhat cold start.

Roush is my second choice but I've heard that it gets raspy in the higher RPMs. Not speaking from experience, just what I've read on a few forums.

S type borlas are great! YouTube Amronbanc89 you can check my videos on my 5.0 13! It's deep bubbles and sounds like a real muscle car. I think it sync's perfect with the coyote. unless it's not within your price range, then I would suggest the Roush, but if your only gonna upgrade the axle back it sounds nice. If you are going to upgrade the whole exhaust I would recommend the s type. The Roush to me sound bad if you upgrade.

In the video is just the axlebacks or full exhaust?

Yep... But get the extreme. I have the sport... Loud at startup and when gettin in it, but I kind of wish the idle was louder... Great unique sound. Zero drone.

Just heard a car on YouTube with Kooks Longtubes, Kooks Off Road X, Kooks Catback, with the Boss Intake Manifold, CAI and tune. This car at 7500 rpms sounded SICK!!!! It's the only car I've heard like this. Plus it was fast as **** beating everyone

Re: Exhaust popping sound

It's all a matter of taste. The car does it stock. I have Roush & it does do it more. I happen to like it on the V8. I've read that an X-pipe is supposed to tone it down some? With the Roush, the car does get a little raspy at high RPM, but I don't find it objectionable--not like 4-cylinder cars.

I'm surprised people don't mention the Mac axle back. I ended up getting the borla s, but the Mac was my second choice. There is a YouTube clip of a yellow 2012 stang and his exhaust paired with the boss quad set up sounds amazing! There is also a clip with the same stang with the borla s catback.. it's a really good comparison watching the 2 vids.

I want my car to sound like a race car, but to a certain limit so borla s might be my final decision, waiting till end of september to decide

Re: Exhaust popping sound

When I bought my 5.0, the previous owner had hacked off the mufflers and attached weak straight pipe that looked like it was done behind some dudes trailer. It sounded okay at high rpm, but it popped and rasped and gargled horribly. A buddy of mine loved it but was horrified every time I revved it in proximity to anyone. I managed to get a hold of a set of stock mufflers and while I was glad the ugly sound was gone, I really missed the deep baritone of how a 5.0 should really sound. My fiance' was even complaining that she missed it. So then I grabbed some Flowmaster Outlaws and while they still pop mildly, they sound really, REALLY sexy.
I've even been asked if my car was the 650hp model lol.

Had Borla S type axle back on an SS. I am doing exhaust in October and not looking at anything else. The sound is awesome! It did pop when I fully released the throttle from high RPMs, but I liked the sound. And that was on a Chevy, so can't say for sure it will be the same on a 5.0

It does. It actually makes less loud as well, unless it's an off road x pipe.

I would think off road h and borla s would sound good. I wouldn't do x with borla s. it would take away what the borla offers.

TheAdrianHand, go with the ATAK, they are awesome. I put the Borla ATAK Axel Backs on my 2012 GT. Here's a 40 second video of them on Youtube:

I put flow master force II axle backs on my 3.7 and it does it. Def not a fan of it, but I like the overall sound aside from that. But I do hope to change it someday. My budget is being fixed around a wedding, so I'll have to stick with what I got

I get that too! As soon as I out my outlaws on people started asking me more questions about my car and assuming I had done tons of other performance mods lol.

I'm not sure what series they were.. They were on the car when I bought it. I guess I could check the part numbers, but I put ford racing fr500s on it... It's frickin loud. Opened it up enough to mess up my tune but after I retuned it those were my gains with the supercharger belt slipping
