Help me choose new tires

Need help deciding between NT05R 315/40-18s(about 27 tall and 12.5 wide) and MT et street2 305/45-18s(almost 29 tall but only about 11.5 wide). I currently have mt 305/35-18s and they're just too short. My cars not a dd. Just want the best hook on the track. Currently at 635 whp with 3.73s. It's definitely too much gear but don't wanna swap em. That being said I wouldn't be too worried about losing some gearing with the taller mt's. Any opinions?

Re: Help me choose new tires

I vote mt et streets, It'll be tall enough to get you across then finish without shifting too much and from what I hear, even with an inch less per tire in width, it should hook just as well if not better than the Nitto

Yeah, that's one reason I'm leaning toward those. Shifting at 7300 4th will take me to 127mph which is perfect. Short of that elusive perfect pass that should work just fine

I suppose you're trapping at 125-126? and If you do get that "perfect pass" you could always just wind it out a little father... what do you have the limiter set to?

Right now it's at 6800. I've got the aluminator which is where they tell you to set it. Doing a pulley swap and adding boss intake next month though so was gonna stretch it out to 7300. I know I won't take full advantage of the intake but would rather be safe. The thing just looks to pretty for me to hold off from getting it any longer

Re: Help me choose new tires

Not sure why FRPP tells you to set the redline at 6800 (I know that you are telling the truth so I am not questioning that) because all the components are either the same or upgraded components as the Boss motor... anyways, you really should be good as high as 7800 at the hard redline, but I wouldn't recommend going higher than 7500 and it sounds like you're set at 7300 (not telling you to do otherwise either). do you have a dyno graph to show where power starts to drop off?

I agree. Only thing I can think of is I got the sc version. Maybe they drop it due to boost? Not sure if that matters. But anyway, we took it out to 7300 and it just starts to fall a bit after 7.

Re: Help me choose new tires

No, the only real difference is the displacement of the pistons for the lower compression ratio for the s/c aluminator... it's 9.5:1 instead of the stock (and N/A aluminator) 11.0:1.

wow... spot on tuning, very smooth and a/f ratio looks great too

Went there. They're 2 hours from me but I started with a different tuner which didn't work out for me but I didn't like the whole remote tune thing. I'm sure it's fine for bolt ons but not with a blower IMO. Brenspeed does dyno and street testing too which I like.

Re: Help me choose new tires

can't wait to see it in the morning on sports center... although I'm a huge packers fan, I still have a lot of respect for the bears... can't say that about the other half of the NFC north lol.

alot of guys I was in the Marines with were bears fans too
