Gt track package

I know the track pack cars get the torsion differential. Do they get the entire rear end assembly from the Boss?

Re: Gt track package

I think it's pretty much the same. I believe they come with the exact same axle/diff, with the diffuser fins on the housing and everything. I'd let you know for certain, but I haven't gotten mine yet.

I don't think anything is different besides the diff and pumpkin cover between the gt and boss

From that pic it looks like the track pack cars get the entire rear assembly.

I was under the impression they did. Took 3 moths to get a white track pack, I really wanted the Torsen it is possible they have a different pumpkin cover but wouldn't make sense. The more cars you can use the same part on the cheaper per unit

I ordered mine with the 3.73. I don't recall if that option included the torsion. Anyone know? I won't have mine for at least another month. What do you mean by tricky to launch? Excessive wheel spin?

3.73 dont necessary come with a torsen, that is another option. But for the 2013 model if you get the torsen it also comes with the boss radiator.
Yea wheel spin and lots lol, i get wheel spin going from 3 to 4 gear in my manual when driving it hard.

This is getting confused.

You can buy 3.73 separately. As well as Brembo pkg.

If u get track pack, you get Brembo plus boss parts. That includes 3.73, extra cooling, Torsten etc. track pack only comes with the 3.73 (Torsten) and is only available on manuals

Yea. My only question was whether the track pack includes the entire rear assembly. It seems pretty obvious it does. My car should be here any day. I can't wait to see that aluminum cover....among other things!!

If you are out at Summit Point I may see you there. I just got my VIN on Wed and they said it should arrive the week of the Oct 8th, so I am anxious to say the least. Where are you located? I'm out in Frederick MD, so only 45 min from Summit Point!

Nice! I'm from Harrisburg, PA. I probably wouldn't end up going until next season rolls around, but I'd like to get some (of my first) track time in this car. My brothers been down to Summit Point a few times racing so I'd probably take him too. I think until next spring comes around though I'll just keep it (relatively) tame on the streets.

Cool. I'll be up at the autox at the end of Oct in Hershey. It's a two day event and I hope to have the Stang for the event, if not I'm going to use my wife's Focus. LOL!

What exactly does the torsen do? I have 3.73s but it's a base so I'm pretty sure no torsen

Mostly for turning at open throttle. It's a type of limited slip diff., so minimizes wheel spin to efficiently put down power (less fish tail). Torsen stands for torque sensitive.

The max ratio is 3:1, so one tire will never get more than 75% of the power. Any more than that and I am out of my league but maybe someone with more knowledge will jump in here

Also the Torsen acts as an open differential when one wheel is completely off the ground and during decel.

There is really no maintenance required unlike a clutch type diff which requires more frequent oil changes and rebuilding when the clutch pack goes up.

So there are trade-offs to each type of diff.

Torsen only comes with the track pack. Maybe the dealers I worked with lied to me (wouldn't e to much of a surprise) but I didn't think that was available with the auto. Wasn't able to build it that way on the ford site either...

GT Track Package is definitely a manual-only option. You can get the Brembo's and 3.73 gears on an auto, but you won't get the oil cooler, bigger radiator, TORSEN diff, etc. on an auto. I believe the Track Package also includes a lot of stuff that Ford doesn't really advertise (I want to say GT500 LCAs?) as well.

The track pack is 100 percent not available for autos. Your confusing the brembo package with track pack.

3.73 isn't even an option for the auto. The only choice is 3.15. I was pretty upset with this.

That's right, good call. I'd like to find a definitive list stating exactly what is included in the GT Track Package if anyone has one. Most of us all know the main points (TORSEN diff, oil cooler, etc.) but I think there's a few more little gems that get snuck in too.

Is it true that for a SC or a turbo 3.31 gears would be better.

There are a couple reasons for that.

1) there's so much more power that if you go with something like 3.73's you will run out of gear long before you run out of power

2) there's so much more power that a shorter gear will cause wheel spin far more easily.

The only gear you can get in the 13' GT500 is a 3.31 for these very reasons, traction and speed, and fuel economy

Can you post your window sticker so that we can verify this claim? If you don't know how, post your VIN and we'll look it up for you.
