tune question

Looking to do a tune and cai soon. I'm about dumb when it comes to this stuff. Sooo if I buy the tuner does already come with a tune or will I have to buy that too? I am eventually going to go with the john lund cammed tune and i know i gotta buy that separate. But the lund tune is only gonna happen when i go with a full exhaust due to having to delete the cats.

I bought my cai and tuner from american muscle and they gave me free tunes for life... Depending where u buy ur programmer from there are options if u want it to come with the tunes they offer or basically empty and u can order tunes from the company u prefer. I have a Bama 91Race tune that was recently revised and I am very pleased with the driving ability and performance.. Im also running a C&L cai... I hope this helps

The SCT comes with tunes. You get street performance and race. And when you add anything you can get re tuned for free

AM/Bama can also do one, Steeda can actually do a tune with cats, they claim no deterioration or premature failure of cats with their cam tune

Didn't know steeda had one. Is that tune dependable?

I was looking at the AM site and there tuner says 3 free tunes. Does that mean they are no longer for life?

A CAI and Tune is always my first recommendation for anyone entering the modification game! You'll see great gains in power, drive ability, throttle response, gas mileage and much more.

We also offer a "Ghost Cam" Tune that is included in our free tunes for life program, Unlike our competitors that charge you for this file! What is advertised on our site is we pre-load 3 custom tunes onto your SCT before it ships out, but your automatically enrolled into our free tunes for life program when purchasing the device through us!

I hope this helps, Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Supposedly if you buy a tuner from them it is free for life.

Pretty much everything Steeda produces is dependable, and I have a couple Steeda tunes ( not the cam tune though) and they're great

bigsmitty24,

Well it's not necessarily a requirement to run the off-road mid-pipe however we highly recommend it. The reasoning behind this is the way we give you that lopey idle. All the adjustments are made within the Variable Valve Timing Table. This will cause for more unburnt fuel to be dumped into the exhaust and over time if you have cats they could be clogged or burnt out.

We haven't had any burn out yet, but it's not a risk we'd like to take!

I hope this helps.

-Dan

The ghost can tune is an ECM calibration that makes your car sound like it has even more aggressive cams without actually replacing cams, as far as performance, it is not different than any other tune you would put in the thrre

Well other than driving at lower RPMs is bouncy and your MPG will drop like an anchor haha. Sounds amazing though.

I don't know if it is offered on a V6 or not, but a needed requirement is that it be a manual and that it have an x pipe with cat deletes.

For the ghost tune, you have to have the variable cam timing that the 2011+ 5.0's have. Looks like the new 3.7L v6's have it too.

It's Ford name is Ti-VCT (twin independent variable camshaft timing)

Depends on the tuner, some can do it on auto with cats still on. I know Steeda can do it with cats but I don't remember who did it with auto

Yep, if I find out or remember who does it for the auto and for a v6 I'll let you know. Just don't remember right now

Thanks, I just got off the phone with American Musscle and the rep advised they don't offer a ghost cam tune for the 11 plus v6 models. Only the 5.0. That sucks! I asked if they thought they would be getting ghost cam tune for the v6 in the future and they said no. Disappointed that American Muscle doesn't make this tune for the 11 plus V6
