Frankenmuffs - boredom breeds a project

So, I was bored at work today and decided to do something ridiculous to my car. I have a stock 2013 gt. I took off the stock mufflers, cut them open, had one of the guys cut out a section of pipe in a chamber, and now one of the other guys took them home to weld them back up. Pffffffffffffft stupid...... but I was bored. I'm hoping that how I "redesigned" the flow in the chambers that maybe it'll sound more like gt500's. Of course it may sound absolutely horrible hahah. Im planning on gt500 quads anyways so whatever. This is just temporary and I hate how quite the car is right now......... And I was bored. I'll post up results tomorrow when I put them back on.

Wow. Yep you said that. Lol. Its actually all welds. I had to drill out the spot welds across the middle. I'll put them on tomorrow so I'll post a video after work. This is so funny. I'll be posting a video of a stock mustang ahaha.

Got the "Frankenmuffs" back on today. Idle sounds stock, normal cruising sounds stock, anything over 1/3 throttle is louder. Not raspy, not crazy loud, only a bit deeper than stock. Mainly just more aggressive open sound. The rest of the car is completely stock. I recorded on my phone so sound is not great but is enough to tell there is a difference. Wondering if anyone thinks this is what gt500 axlebacks sound like. Eh if you can tell from a cell phone video.

Wow sounds legit, you guys should open a new exhaust brand lol.
It does kind of sounds like a gt500 muffler.

Surprised here, sounds legit. Still on stock mufflers myself and I know they don't rip and crackle like that

I'm also surprised lol. This cost me a 12 pack for my friends buddy to weld them back together for me. I only removed the one section in the picture I posted. Funny how a small redirection in flow can change so much. Actually now I can decide if I want GT500's or something louder.

Sure I'll try my friends iphone 5 tomorrow after work. After having frankenmuffs a couple days I'm pretty sure I'm going gt500's. Too bad I can't hear any in person before I spend the $$$. I just figure gt500's have a great tone and I can always turn the volume up once I do more performance oriented exhaust mods.

I've heard a lot of Mustang exhausts and the GT500s are by far my favorite, especially with an offroad mid pipe.

I agree. Going by youtube videos gt500's and orx sound perfect. I'm curious to know if the new gt500 quad tip design has a different chamber design thus giving it a different sound. I can't tell by the LMR video.

I'm not sure. I don't know much about them other than it will require somewhat extensive modification to the rear facia for them to fit anything pre-2013.

I have a 2013 so I was considering the gt500 quads and valance or the older gt500's and a boss rear valance. Oh and I definitely have to follow your lead on blacking out the mufflers. It really cleans it up.

I'll hold my opinion until I hear the updated video with a better quality sound. Also! I think the sound is bouncing off the wall making it sound really raspy? When you make the next sound clip, try not to be so close to the wall. That is all...

Okay here's another video with better sound quality. It is inside a bay at my shop because I just finished installing my Roush grill. There isn't much echo inside the shop because it is pretty big and ceilings are crazy high. Hope this works better for you guys

I think it sounds great. Especially considering what was done. For a couple hours of labor and a case of beer, it's a great mod to hold you over while saving for a good setup.
