Well the tune is really just gonna fix the speedo. Sounds like you might not be doing the speed you think. Hopefully you actually have 3.73 gears.

I'd recommend contacting AM first and see what they say about your tune. That is if you don't have the options to change it before loading the tune. Bama seems hit or miss on leaving this unlocked.

That would be what worries me. Regardless of the speedo being fixed you should feel a big change in the gearing. I did immediately

I took mine 2011 to the dealer to get a price. They quoted me 210$ for gears and 710$ for labor and programmer. $ 920 is crazy.

See that isn't bad because of the Dyno tune. That is easily 400ish of that so right around what I paid for gears and all parts plus rebuild kit. 550.

I have stock 3;73 in my 2012 GT. I'm running about 68/70 mph in 6th gear at 2000 RPMs your doing 80 mph at 2100 rpm, that's 10 mph faster!! Most people that have 3:73 are running about 68/69 mph at 2000 RPM's!!

That's can't be right. You should feel a huge difference.

I think I'm gonna call the installer first and say my car feels the exact same, they're not gonna do the whole install which isn't an easy install for the same gears... Which they cost the same anyway, that would be silly, unless they made a mistake in getting the wrong gears

Jack it up and check the gear ratio.

I was there during the install, but I didn't see exactly what the box said but they were definitely FRPP, the sticker was just modified rather than being changed

man that would SUCK for that installer. Have any friends with 3.73 gears or maybe test drive a car with them and see if they feel similar? I mean it wasn't a small change IMHO between 3.31 and 3.73 it was a major difference. I remember being so sad because the guys who swapped my gears wanted a 500 mile break in or they wouldn't cover the work. Couldn't go past 3K RPM and was supposed to vary the speed. I really only did it because I wasn't about to have something happen and be SOL. I can tell you though, just pulling out of their parking lot was crazy feeling like the car just woke up and wanted nothing more than to drive as fast as possible.

On jack stands, w/chalk, mark the bottom of the drive shaft & bottom of tire. Turn the wheel one complete rotation and count how many times the drive shaft turns. The drive shaft should turn 3-3/4 times for 3.73s, 3-1/2 times for 3.55s and a hair over 4 for 4.10s.

Never thought of that, thats pretty cool. The installer put white paint on the sticker over the 31 and put 73 in marker... But i will call the installer tomorrow before Bama just to make sure it was 3.73s... I'm sure they are the correct gears, I just took it easy on the long ride home knowing I should break in the gears before getting on them... The speedo and rpm is what's bugging me... I really think and hope its a tune issue

well anyone can correct me, but the RPMs are not affected by the tune. Just the Speedo would be. Also while I think about it 2000 RPMs is probably right around 68mph. So obviously it would be off by a lot. Nice thing is bama is fast on getting replacement tunes.

Definitely let us know what it was!

You should be able to feel a big difference even if your not getting on it. The gears could have been mislabeled.

Something's not right and it has nothing to do with the tune. At 80mph with my 3.73s, I'm easily at 2500 rpms. Doesn't seem like the correct gear, what's the part number on the box?

If it was set up right, you can beat on from day one. Race teams do.

Yep. They drop gears in and do heavy RPM clutch dumps on them no questions asked.

And then get a nice and loud whine that you have to listen to forever. Just take it easy 500 miles and be safe.

regardless if the gears are done right you won't get a whine even pushing it to the limit from day 1.

If the installer told you this they don't trust their work. They don't come apart unless they are done wrong.
