Exhaust upgrade

My dealership I'm dealing with has a upgrade for my exhaust and its a great deal. Will I get as much gain as I'm thinking I will get with it?? It's a sport exhaust. Definitely will sound sooo much better

Unfortunately I don't have much info on it. I can't remember exactly what the salesman said. He said it has something to do with the back side of the exhaust. I wish I would have gotten more info. He said it will be a lot louder

Won't provide any real increase in performance unless you remove the cats. I doubt the dealer is going to do that.

Sounds like he is talking about axle backs. They are going to just be for sound.

True unless they use high flow cats

That's cool. Definitely want a better sound. I'm gonna probably do other things for performance. Definitely considering chipping it at some point

Not on a 5.0. Pretty sure there are multiple people here who have also said that on this car high flow cats did not increase performance at all. Maybe 1-2 HP. You will see a 15-20HP increase removing the cats.

Still not gonna get a real HP increase with HF cats. These cars are different than the 4.6. The 5.0s show a significant gain when removing the cats, almost as much as adding LTs (so some say)

How much is the dealer wanting to charge for the exhaust? Dont commit until you compare prices somewhere else. I'm imagine the dealer will want your left nut and the promise of your 1st born child for parts and labor.

Unfortunately mine isn't a 5.0. It is a 4.6. Still love it though. Does that change a lot of things? The dealership told me its an $800 exhaust system that they have had in stock for a year and need to unload it. They said they would sell it to me for $200 and install it for $75. What do all of you think?? I wish I had info on the system for you.

I think you should call and get the info before you go and spend 275 on an exhaust you know nothing about other than their word it will be "louder"

For that price which isn't bad, I'm assuming they would be upgrading u to Roush axlebacks, which will only change the sound... Only type of exhausts that will upgrade power would be changing headers, and car delete with tune... Changing the sound is an awesome first mod, it will make u feel the like your driving a true muscle

Find out the brand and if it's an "Axle back" exhaust. It may be worth it for that price.

I don't think any of Ford's axle backs are $800. Unless that's what they are directly from Ford and not AM or late model. If it's a roush or the sports racing ones they'd certainly be worth the deal price. IF the sound is like something you'd want.

Roush axle-backs aren't $800. Might be Borla.

Yes. I had Borla on my last car & they are quality pieces. I went with Roush on the Mustang because I liked the sound better, but the Borlas were my next choice.

We are talking dealer prices here so $800 could be anything.

So sounds like these: 2010 MUSTANG GT SPORT MUFFLER KIT (49 STATE) | Part Details for M-5230-MGTL | Ford Racing Performance Parts

There's lots of non-FRPP parts that are cheaper. Install them yourself, it's not hard.

I'm sure they are good pieces, I just think kind of pricey. For example, my Roush were almost half that price. I also prefer to do my own wrenching.

I have an eleventy billion dollar shift knob here just sittin around. I'll cut my losses and sell it to you for $100.

F dealerships. Do what the majority of us did....spend countless hours watching YouTube vids, buy what you think sounds best, and install it yourself.

No, I'll have to order....er, oh yeah...it's been sitting on a shelf here for a while. Sadly the price just went up to $500. I'm an engineer...my redesigns....er one of a kind creations cost a minimal amount of $$. But you'll be happy with the product....I use lock-washers.

Enough of that nonsense. What I'm getting at is don't be fooled by a smooth-talking salesman before you even know what you're even getting...especially when it comes to dealerships. They aren't going to do anything unless they can make a halfway decent profit on it.

Concerning labor to put the axlebacks on...do a search. It's not that hard. Guys have done it with a broken arm and help from the wife....so basically, a retarded amputee could do it.

I don't know why I keep getting sucked into these exhaust threads. LMAO
