Follow up to down on power post for 2013 GT.

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing low power numbers on the dyno for 2013 GT? In a previous post I had shared that with CAI, X pipe and custom tune I was only putting down high 360s RWHP. Most cars this tuner has done with same setup are in the low 400s. The tuner seemed to think I had a bad or weak firmware file from Ford. I spoke with Ford and they show no issues or upgraded files for the car. My tuner had a ford tech plug into the car and it showed no issues. He has seen this in more than one car now, mine was the first. Mine is auto, but has also seen in manual cars. He has spoken with other tuners around the country he knows and says they are seeing similar issues in he 13s. One theory is that due to the high number of cylinder 8 issues in the 11 and 12s, that Ford has done some things in the background of the firmware file to block some of the tuning parameters. The dyno is a dyno jet. Has anyone else experienced or heard anything along these lines?

How would this work if they are also advertising a higher horsepower rating for 2013? What gear ratio do you have and what tune?

Exactly my point. 420 Motor HP should be 360 RWHP stock assuming 15% driveline loss. On the Bama race tune I was only making in the 340s with stock air box. C & L cold air and custom dyno tune brought it up to the 360s, but should be there stock.

I'm thinking a jacked up dyno. Do you have a higher than normal gear? Like 3.73's?

I understand your dyno guy says they've seen 'several' 2013s that are low on power but I am reluctant to be worried about my hp. Sounds like cya for doing a crappy job on the dyno.

If ford is putting outLOWER real Hp, it's not smart to advertise higher

Yeah, that was my first thought. But considering the baseline was really low (BAMA race tune) it seems to be more than that. If the baseline was normal, and his gains were low maybe. But since they are both low not sure.

12.5 at 113 with BAMA race tune and stock box and 3:15 gear. After dyno tune, C&L cold air and 3:73 gear 12.3 at 111. Should have picked up at least half a second on these mods. plus the track i ran after is always faster than the wher i ran the 12.5 and it was in the 60s. When I ran the 12.5 it was August and in the high 90s.

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but what was used for the pull? I know the other guy who thought he had problems was in 4th, redid it in 5th and the numbers were where they should have been.

Why the hell would you dyno the car in 3rd lmao...

5th is the 1:1 gear.

4th gear I pulled 390HP and 350Torque.
5th gear I pulled 411HP and 393Torque.

I don't even want to know what 3rd would have looked like.

Actually by adding the 3.73's you may have hurt your times. Your car is now shifting into 4th just before you cross the traps while with the 3.15's it stayed in 3rd. That's the main reason all the fastest N/A autos run 3.31's. As far as your dyno numbers remember with an auto it will read a little lower. But dynos are just meant as a tool, nothing more.

5th gear in the autos are actually 0.87. There is no 1:1 ratio in the autos. Here is a break down on all of Fords transmission ratios.

@Nosympathy, my TQ number is pretty close to yours, but power is way off. However, my TQ number falls rapidly after 5,000. Most others we looked at went up slightly past 5,000 then flattened out around 6,000 to 7,000.

My bad missed the auto part :/. Yeah I have my graph at home on the computer. It is in my other thread just hard to see. I'll post it later. My torque kept rising through the entire RPM band till around 7K I think it was?
