It think it is legal, i guy i know with a 13 boss did it and it is painfully uncomfortable. Corbeau are a good bang for your buck and not too uncomfortable.

I could not imagine having a full race seat in a daily driver, that would have to be super uncomfortable. I would just get some decent corbeaus

Unless the rest of the car look 100% like a race car with roll bar, rear seat delete ect; it will not look good at all, i saw it in a boss and it just messed up the whole look, it made the car look cheap.

It is likely not illegal hut it may void your insurance. It is vital that you report any safety item changes to your insurance company. Especially with the s197 because the seats have a airbag in them. The older mustangs its usually less of a big deal but a quick phone call is easy. My insurance company will only insure certain brand name seats; corbeau, sparco, bride, and a few others. I have a big savings jar with all my spare change in it saving up for corbeau lg-1 seats.

On the Boss? I think they look good in the Boss and fit the cars style very well. IMO

I'm not sure i want to get a pair of recliner seats or fixed yet, struggling~.~

Fixed looks have better look than recliner but pain in the *** for using it as a daily driver. ~.~

Function > looks. Trust me, my stock Recaros grab plenty of attention. Most guys assume they are aftermarket & barely believe me when I point out they are factory. Plus, they are super comfortable for hours at a time & the recline makes the back seat accessible (yes I actually use it on occasion).

The recaros felt weird for about two minutes if you've never sat in a seat that hugs you before, and then it feels like the most amazing seat you've ever sat in. I never get uncomfortable or sore or anything from them.

Agreed. A well fitting seat is awesome. In a car that sees street duty there is no need for a full fixed stripped race seat. You can get plenty of stability with a reclining seat. Fixed seats are uncomfortable, a pain in the *** and unless you plan to run sliders (weakest link in mounting) they can't be adjusted. So I'd say get reclining comfortable ones with a high quality frame and high quality sliders with good engagement.

Thanks for all your comments. I think I will change my mind of getting recliner seats.
But the stock recaro seats are just for V6 premium or up right?.? Could base model add the racing seats package??

I just built a base v6 on Ford's website and you can add Recaros.

So you're planning an order? Definitely get the Recaros! It's about a $1600 option, but the same seats will be $2400 through Ford Racing as an afterthought. Since my car came with them, I have not looked at pricing for equivalent aftermarket seats (e.d., aftermarket Recaros, Sparco, Corbeau, etc.), but I'd expect they are somewhere within that range. You also have the side airbag issue to consider now--the stock ones include them.

I wouldn't cheap out on the seats. Again, if you're planning on speccing a car to buy, definitely get the Recaro option. That way you a) don't have to buy & install aftermarket, and b) the cost goes into the loan.

I have to say, after visiting the LA Auto Show this weekend, these are some of the most comfortable OEM seats out there. Better than the Corvette seats (ok, that's not saying much...), better than I recall the WRX seats being. Even most of the Audi & BMW seats didn't seem as good, IMHO.

It's a $1595 option when you order your mustang, as opposed to buying them individually aftermarket for $799 so I don't see why you wouldn't just get them on your car right away.

Yeah theyre like $2600 for the FRs, which are cloth, most places; thats a good price. I have a premium, but did not get the Recaro option b/c I wanted the upgraded interior (which you cant get with Recaros), heated mirrors & seats stock, plus the Recaro fronts dont match the backseat & recovering would probably run close to $1k on top of the $1600. I also get power seats on both sides which could be a con if ur trying to save weight, but the Recaros bolt right into the power tracks, so that cinched it for me & I just figured I'd add them later for track/summer use, saving some wear and tear on my stocks (with the matching stripe, which I love). The leather is pretty warm in summer so itd be a nice change for a few months.
