What gear should I use?

I have a M6 GT with a hellion turbo kit on 6psi. Right now the car has the stock 331s and I was wondering if I should change to 373 or 410s...I saw AM's project car has 410s would they do better in the 1/4 Mile? Just not sure what would be best.

Honestly it comes down to how you want to drive your car. 3.73s are a bit better on mpg for highway driving. However, if you don't do a lot of highway driving or simply don't care about the minor mpg loss, then the 4.10s will give you greater acceleration that you can feel instantly.

Side note: you may need new tires with the 4.10s as they will propel you much harder.

I say keep the stock 3.31's. Especially with a turbo.

I want to get whatever is best for the 1/4 mile. The 331s seem to fit well, I'm just not sure they are the best choice. I want them for the drag strip because my goal it to hit 10.99...

So without going forced induction, it will take a great deal to get to 10.99 N/a. Certainly would need 4:10 gears along with a boat load of other stuff (built engine, off road long tubes, lightweight stuff everywhere, DR/slicks, etc).

Fastest way there would be Forced Induction. 4:10 might be too much to put down with FI.

I believe the new Shelby has 3:55 for that very reason. Still would need driveshaft and DRs.

I have a turbo car...and will be getting the driveshaft...The AM project car has 410s but I figured that was a little much and they almost hit 10s on street tires..I plan on using a drag set was just hoping to see what gear most of the FI guys are using to get down the track!

This is going a little off topic but you don't need a built engine to hit 10.99 in these cars NA. WBT did it at 10.94 with a stock block.

Off topic again. That reminds me I had a very good friend that had a boat at the marina every boating season. My wife and I had a standing invitation to the dock/boat. The people that had boats on that particular dock were known as partying people and organized theme nights. One of those was Mexican night. When we showed up at the dock, I had a case of Corona and a cooler on a radio flyer. When my friend's wife saw the Corona she said, "Oh good! You got Corona for Mexican Night!" To which I responded, "The Corona is for you Gringos, real Mexicans drink Lite Beer from Miller, which is in the cooler.

Sorry, I had to post this in his memory.

In the spring I'm going 410! If I am going to have someone put in the work, and pay the money... go for the higher gear. Although, 373 might be better for all around. I do mostly city driving and want more 0-60 then highway, but still do travel on the highway. All in all, look at AM site... Thry post rpm in each gear. It is only abbot 500-600 rpm difference from 331 to 410. Good luck.

I have the 3.31s and feel that the best gear for my car would be 3.55s because of them being a happy medium for FI. 3.73s+ seem to be a little much for FI with these cars and the manual trans gearing. Just my opinion.

With your turbo setup and a 26" tall tire. 3.31-3.55, although going to a 3.55 from 3.31 is not worth it......

If you run a 28" tire for your drag strip passes, 3.73-3.90

So running a 28" tall tire you want at least 3.73? Im gonna be running 27.7" tall tires for street and track use.
