About to buy a tuner... But what one?

Looking to buy a tuner this week but not sure what one to buy. I'm thinking either the handheld bama sct or the bama itsx? Is the itsx worth the extra money? Please help me out.

MustangBill,

These are both great options and I'm confident you'll really enjoy either one! It really depends what you plan on using them for. If you're just going to tune the car and put the device in your glove box until you need a re-tune or to check/clear a CEL, then the Bama SF3 Tuner is your best option. However, if you like having the screen and viewing 0-60 times and live data, then the iTSX may not be a bad idea!

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance. Give my Bama team a call and they'll give you a better understanding! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I think it depends on if you are a "tecky" kind of guy, you know the one who likes to have the cool gadgets!

I have the itsx, love it.. I like the fact that I can tune my car with my phone or my iPad... Plus it just looks cool when you pull the iPad out and start tuning your car, at least I think it does..

although, I got a 30 dollar ODBII device off amazon that is bluetooth to my phone and allows me to view anything I want about the car in real time, 0-60 all that jazz.

I just can't tune my car with it, but I don't retune it very often anyway!

I've been looking into one of those. Would you recommend it?

I have this one

BAFX Products (TM) - ELM 327 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light and other diagnostics - Android compatible : Amazon.com : Automotive

works really well, just my only thing is it is rather long and I just barely bump it while shifting my car, if you had an auto wouldn't matter. I recommend
Amazon.com: OBD-II OBD2 16Pin Male to Female Extension Cable Diagnostic Extender 100cm: Electronics

to relocate the scanner so it is out of the way. I also am looking to buy maybe a nexus 7 and rig it to mount in the car with a mount I found that screws in behind the current radio dash, that way I can have a nice big screen mounted out of the way to view. I just haven't gotten there yet. Currently I am using an old android phone to run Torque and watch certain gauges.

i have no idea about that, or if that would work, I am gonna get this mount
Amazon.com: Panavise Ford Mustang 2010 2011 2012 InDash Mount: Car Electronics
and then rig a bracket with bolts to a tablet and mount the tablet too it, so it is curved and aimed at me. Be able to glance down and see anything I want, when I want on the fly.

literally anything you want to know...far more than you need to know...

haha. real time mpg, average mpg, air to fuel ratio, engine temp, rpms, speedometer, intake temp, boost, how long your car has been actually running etc.

The list is so long I am not even gonna type it out. Tells you literally anything anyone could want to know about their car.

+1. It is crazy fantastic getting engine readouts as one goes. Also check out the Scanguage and UltraGuage, too. All have pros and cons to the specific ones, but you will find what you like best.

I guess I don't have any that show my whole dash, but I suggest putting it further away, closer to the window, almost like a HUD.

What did you pay for the gauge? And have you used it, or do you like it?
