Trying to pop the silver trim off on the steering wheel so I can paint them. Do they pop off? Do I need to remove the center first? I pried pretty good at it and it didn't budge.
You will need to remove the center, air bag and steering wheel to remove the dress panels. Its a pretty easy process, make sure to disconnect the battery before starting.
I've done it both ways...once to install a new steering wheel... Once to plastidip the silver trim.
You don't need to remove the steering wheel or center cap to pop the side spoke covers (silver trim).
Take a flat pick tool to the outermost curved edge, wedge it and pop up, then pull the whole thing up and out. The buttons will pop out (or can be unplugged).
