CAI and Tuner for my '13

I am thinking about getting a cai and a tuner for my 13 gt california edition but 2 things..

should I get one even though it might void the warranty?

and if so, which one do you guys prefer?

Most of us have voided our warranty... That should give you a pretty good idea of what people think.

As far as what tuner, go with any of the big names. Bama, C&L, VMP, AED, Lund, Steeda, I'm sure there are others that people will recommend as well

As a good rule of thumb, 10k miles is how long many people wait to tune. For the most part these cars will have issues in that amount of miles, IF they do have issues

If you are new to this I would say go with Bama tunes from American Muscle. Some of the other tuners can be hard to get ahold of at times and have more aggressive tunes. Bama tunes are great, customer service is top notch (if not the best) and they are very responsive. I just ordered a new set of tunes from them tonight and I expect them to be here by the weekend.....just as fast as the last time.

Definitely get a CAI and tuner. Just keep your stock intake so if you do have any issues with your car you can easily swap out the CAI and flash the stock tune back.

I have put orders for new tunes in the morning and had them in my inbox after lunch. They are really fast. I would recommend getting the hybrid tune also it's by far my favorite.

because they can still tell the has been tuned. smaller repairs they will never look but if the dealership has to call in actual Ford for the repair, say for like an engine swap, they are going to look and your going to be out of luck.

yonkers28,

I'm confident you're going to be more than satisfied with our Bama Performance tunes. Tons of members on this forum are running our tunes on a daily basis with nothing be great results. Just wait until you feel the Race tune for the first time!

If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions our tunes, you can even talk to a Bama Performance Specialist directly @ 888.226.9764. Or you can always give me a shout via PM. I'll be happy to help you out with anything I can!

Shane

Getting tunes fast doesn't mean you're getting the best. I can buy a pair of pants from Walmart for a great price and get them fast but it doesn't mean they're the best.

AED, VMP, Lund or even Steeda. Go with a company that can tune and that you get the most out of it. You don't here many Bama tunes breaking records.

I hear nothing but great things about all the tunes you mentioned, however "getting the most out of it" can be 20k-30k miles the engine is shot, for a person who DD there car and doesnt drive 1/4 mile at a time i think the bama tunes will do just fine.

Kind of what I was thinking. Yeah, it might not have the elite #'s that some other tunes have, but it will be a very nice gain over stock and will be conservative enough to be sustainable. That's more what I'm going for than peak #'s.

In all honesty, any canned tune will never be as good as a custom tune on a dyno especially considering how each motor can put out different numbers depending on a TON of variables, so having a solid reliable safe tune is more what I feel you are looking for and BAMA should be great for that.

for me personally and I am sure others get it, with many mods planned in the future requiring new tunes, I would rather have the ease of Bama and how great their customer service is and how fast they get tunes out than any of the others.

At the point and time I want a highly aggressive tune I wouldn't do a mail order tune but get the car dyno tuned.

I am not looking for something that is going to kill my engine or put up ridiculous performance numbers. I am really just looking for a little something extra to add to my car. I really only drive it on the weekends

Yeah, I've got the SCT SFX3 tuner with Bama tunes and a Steeda CAI. Zero issues in 30K miles.

Every coyote is different so to get the best performing safest tune for ur coyote you should data log so the tuner can see what it's doing and write the tune accordingly.

I also have a stock 2013 GT and I was wondering if anyone else with the same did a before and after tune comparison with the track apps? 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile? Bama tune info would be real helpful as I am also considering this for my DD.

That's not a bad way to go about it either. Feel free to send me a PM if you would rather ask questions on the forums. I'd be more than happy to assist you with anything I can!

There's no doubt the tuners mentioned above can hold their own. I'm certainly not denying that. However, I wanted to point out that Bama does hold a record or two. Have you seen our Procharged 2011 v6? We were the first to hit the 11's with the new 3.7 v6!

FYI some dealerships will only void warranty if you change bolton type parts as in my case. I just uploaded a data logged custom tune from BAMA and put in a drop in K&N and no complaints here 21,000miles on my 2011 GT.
