Anyone? I'm looking at 20's also. But read somewhere on here that it's only for looks? Not to thread jack, but what are the wheel sizes you guys recommend and why? And what kind of rubber? Thanks in advance!

20" rims are not recommended for track use, because of the added weight, and smaller, but firmer side wall of the tire. Its obvious why the extra weight will slow you down, but the reason why a smaller sidewall is bad is because it will cause you to spin and loose traction more. The smaller the sidewall, the firmer it will be, decreasing your traction, and your 60' times. Added width will help your plant the power, but a 20" rim will take it back away... Im new to the 5.0 mustang, so im not sure what the ideal tire size is for the track., but im sure someone will chime in soon.

I run 19X9.5 on all four corners with 285-35-19s on all four corners. She hugs turns like a pro.

Personally I think a 19" rim is best for this car. Ford thinks so too. The Boss 302, the track car, runs 19X9 fronts and 19X9.5 rears. If that tells you anything.

If you are really worried about weight you can do wheels that are forged which will make them lighter. Forgestar is a well recommended brand for this. You'll be looking about 2500 bucks minimum for rims and tires to start.

Im happy with my setup too. 19x8.5s front, 19x10 rear, with 275/40/19. I would have preferred a bit wider tire, but i got them as a package from AM.

You aren't rubbing at all with the 285/35's up front?

not even a little. There is a guy on a different forum that is running 305 tires up front and he only rubs a little if that tells you anything.

I'm running the Nittos 555 and had 40 psi , plus I wanted to be the first one to run that night knowing the track was prep and ready. Can't remember what the temps were that night.

Was gonna say your 60 foot times are pretty good for a street tire. Those 555s def helped you out. Auto or manual and what gears?

No suspension work either?

3.55s is what I'm thinking my car needs. Car needs just a little more down low, HP will do the rest.
