Bama Hybrid

I just got the Bama 93 Hybrid tune. I think. The file was named 93R. When I emailed Bama someone told me that the 93R is the HYBRID. Another member told me his was named 93H.

Has anyone recently recieved the Hybrid tune labeled 93R?

I just want to be sure it's right before I load this thing.

Thanks!

Yeah i guess I should contact Bama again. It is frustrating. I know they are busy but there should be a standard file name so there is no confusion. I wouldn't even be second guessing this but I had some other issues with the custom tunes that came loaded on my tuner.

I don't want to load this and not see any difference (like many have said) and give up on the Hybrid because I actually loaded another 93R.

I have a 93R tune as well and have driven on both. Definitely feel the difference between the 2 down low. They feel the same up top. Seat of the pants measurements only. Lol.

You can get other companies to mail out tunes or use the tuner and get it custom dyno tuned.

Bama told me it is their most aggressive tune. It has the low end power of the Street tune and the high end of the Race tune.

That's what my post is about. The 93 octane Race tune file is named 93R and when I requested the Hybrid tune they sent me another file named 93R.

Bama told me it is the Hybrid tune. But other have stated theirs was named 93H.

I'm confused.

I won't know who to recommend but I know there are a few other form members with other mail in type tunes. When I looked around at a few they seem to be a bit more than Bama. Some were upwards of $400, don't remember which ones. I have had good experiences with AM so I went with them. Sorry you are having issues.

2013fiveO,

Man, you haven't had the best luck in the past month. I'm sorry for all of the hassle you've gone through already!

I know we were talking not long ago, but could you pm me your order number? I'll get in contact with the Bama Team and see what's going on with the labeling of tunes. In the past, we've labeled the Race tune as 93R and the Hybrid tune as 93H. I don't see why that might have changed, but I promise you I'll get to the bottom of it!

Thanks for all of your patience in the past, too. You're a great guy to work with!

Shane

So for someone like me, why AED over Lethal Performance tunes by John Lund?

Gonna be $200 for a tune plus extra cammed version of the tune from John Lund through Lethal Performance.

$325 to get the same thing from AED. They can't be that much better?

Personally I am going to order John Lunds tune at some point here unless someone can give me some crazy reason I should go with AED.

Customer srv is customer srv no matter the platform. I've read many times where Lund has left customers hanging. Shaun has an excellent reputation for customer srv and as a genius tuner. U get what u pay for. Go with AED and will b very happy. Go Lund and u may not.

Never, if you got money for a SC, you should have money for a custom tune.

I felt a difference from the race tune and hybrid. Only down low though. Haven't been down the quarter though. I did notice last night that my car hits redline at 7300 on the hybrid. I'm sure that's configurable.

Anyone know what would happen if I ran the stock tune with a cold air intake that was for tune only?

Was going to update the tuner so I put my car back to stock. Just realized I left the FireWire at work. It's only about a mile 1 way and really wanted to minimize how many times I upload tunes on my car. Better safe than sorry I guess. I guess I'll put the tune back on to run to work and get the cable. Then start the process over.

I mean your car won't explode or anything but it is not going to run very well.

Well....since its Sunday and I probably shouldn't have been messing with the tuner since AM is closed, I thought it would be safer to put up to work on the stock tune rather than risk having to upload tunes on the car 3 more times today.

Weird thing is...it ran better on the stock tune...

I can feel that the hybrid tune has a little bit more low end torque but the "stock" tune pulled much more consistent through the full RPM range than the hybrid and the race tune.

I always had a suspicion that my car had a tune on it when I bought it. That suspicion is getting greater now.

When I bought the car from the dealer they had put 87 octane in it and it would ping under a load. Soon as I drive it off the lot I filled the rest up with 93, about 3/4 tank. The ping instantly stopped.

I know that the tuner saves the "stock" file but I would assume that this "stock" file is just what ever tune was on it before. Right?

I am not real familiar with all thus tune stuff so somebody please straighten me out if I am wrong about that.

I would assume that the only way to know for sure is to go get it dynoed with the different tunes on it and compare results. Although, this may not tell me definitively either... Any thoughts?
