Sync Question

I have a 2011 Roush Stage 3, with the Ford Sync GPS and everything like that. I connect my phone through bluetooth everytime I drive my car, but I've never been able to set up the whole text messaging thing. I have the Iphone 5. How do I set that up? Please someone help?

I'm told Microsoft wont allow the text messages to work on the iPhone 5, only android phones.
All I want is my Bluetooth to connect every time ,
Instead of having to navigate through thr menu to get it to work

I have an iPhone 5 with no issues syncing to Bluetooth. My text does work though. I thought it only worked with the paid sync services.

My iPhone 5 works, I just hold the home button and tell Siri, which works fine in my sync, to send text and it works great. Even if I tell Siri to take me to a destination, she'll give me turn by turn directions.

It's not that Microsoft won't allow it, iphone uses a different messaging protocol for texting that microsoft hasn't coded to which causes some problems.

It's most likely an issue with the APIM module and/or the software level. Have it replaced by the dealership.

Will have to ask them. I should still be under warranty.

found this. Looks like I can update sync without the dealer.

SYNC & SYNC with MyFord | Downloading an Update to Ford SYNC with a USB Drive | Ford.com

About to update sync in the next hour or so. Will update the group if anything changes.

Just use Siri, she's much faster anyway. Just one button and speak, instead of navigating through the sync menus.

That means that I have to have my phone in my hand which does not work real well with a 6-speed and 100% city driving. I kinda feel that a major point of sync is hands free phone use. Using Siri defeats the purpose and is just a workaround for the sync iPhone compatibility issue.

It's just one button, push the home button and just talk. You can leave the phone in the cup holder the entire time because Siri works through the stereo. I find her way better than sync...I got a stick too and it's not bothersome.

There is a few updates for iPhone n iTunes fixes available for download on the sync sight. Gonna try those as well to see if I can get text to start working.

No go. The itunes updates said that it fixed 34 songs in iTunes but I never really had issues with them playing anyways. My car still tells me that the blue tooth device does not support text...

---------- Post added at 07:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:16 PM ----------

Guess I will rely on Siri.

Dealer told me this part is less than $200. To install i don't. Know,
With all due respect wouldnt your warranty start the day you drove it off the lot and not wheni it was built?

Bought it used. I'm not really sure but I called the dealer to talk with them yesterday and the service manager told me build date... I have yet to do my own research though so I'm not 100% sure.

They don't go off build date. If so mine would be out of warranty soon even tho I've got 20,000 miles and 2 years since I purchased the car new.

Any way to know or really find out? I've bought the car last September. I thought I read on my paperwork that it was up in September 2013 until I talked to the service manager. I can't find the date now. I will call a different dealer and see if they give me the same answer.

Probably depends on what they offer on used cars. I honestly haven't really shopped used cars so I don't know what usually gets offered that way. I know we have a bunch that got used stangs that can probably chime in.

I have the galaxy 4 and it works on mine. You have to go through your settings on the message portion and sync it that way..even if your phone is already sync'd for the phone call option..then it should work...it is kinda of like how you had to download your phone book. I hope that helps..I know the directions are kinda vague but it should give you prompts. Also try the syncmyride.com website

You are awesome for posting this. Finally got mine working. Thanks a ton! Btw can you only respond using the 15 preloaded messages? or is there a way for it to record your voice to create a specific reply.
