Clutch pedal

Under hard acceleration and spirited shifting the pedal hangs close to the floor. Is it designed to do this? Or is there a problem?

It's an assist spring issue. Just search around for a thread on removing it.

I have heard all over threads that by doing so you get a wobbly clutch, heavier clutch feel. The last thread said to get a gt500 clutch assembly. Another guy took his to the dealer, got it replaced, and said it felt softer but much better.

Yeah that's why I haven't done it but I was just thinking about swapping out for a GT500 assembly after seeing a side by side comparison somewhere, but wasn't sure if there were any fitment issues. What did the guy who went to the dealer replace with; OEM or GT500?

He wasn't sure and is going to ask one of the ford guys later. Look up clutch replacement in the search tool and the one with 16 posts will give you some more info.
