I can't say from experience, I love my Barton shifter... But knowing how MGW is praised among most ppl... Just go MGW, if I had to do it over that's what I would do

MGW shifter questionthe

15 pages of people buying and saying how great the MGW is. Should be
All you need to pull the trigger and buy one. I got mine about 6 months ago and I love it. Not many people have run both so getting a real comparison slim to none.

I had the SR Performance Short Throw Shifter and barton bracket that i bought from AM, which was way better than stock, but the mgw is a totally different beast,

I installed it last night with my buddy.. took longer than expected but he likes takin beer and cig breaks every 30 minutes lol. But its awesome! So clean and crisp when shifting! I dont have to worry about hitting a wall goin into 3rd anymore.. just one small problem 1 of the 4 studs on the side holding the bracket arm or w/e snapped.. so I'm kinda concerned bout that. But it was sayin to compress the lock washer and before I got that compressed it snapped right off..

Yep, they cost to much money to leave it halfass. I'm sure they will replace the defective piece.

BTW just a few perks of living in Georgia :p George at MGW is an awesome guy. You know they take pride in what they do when the owner of the company installs your shifter for you.

I think for the area in which that stud is broke, is probably ok to run it, the factory shifter had 3 studs and as long as the 3 are tight it should be fine, unless mgw would be willing to send you the box and let u swap it out without losing your car for a week or two waiting for you to send to them and them sending it back...

everyone will have an opinion on this for sure. I just bought the MGW but like many others waiting for it to get here. If you look the two shifters MGW gives more of the shifter unit in a precise machined unit. I just think that the piece itself has more engineering to it. Having said that not having both side by side I cannot say which is better at shifting.
one thing is for sure its either are better than that POS OEM shifter. Why Ford event would put that in this car is beyond me.
Why not make it an option to get a good one. order it that way and be done with it.

I need to take a pic of my pos shifter. George asked me how many miles I had on my car, bc the reverse lockout (piece of plastic) was severely worn. I just rolled over 40k this week. He said if I hadn't had it replaced I would've had problems soon. I do reverse more than you average person though. I back in everywhere I go including my driveway and at work. The only places I don't back in are in malls and shopping centers like Walmart and at those places I Park out by the semis :p

That seems odd, are you sure you aren't abusing the lockout? I had 43k miles on my shifter before I put the MGW in and never had a single issue with the reverse lockout. And much like you I back in everywhere I go also INCLUDING places like Walmart or the mall.

When I say abusing I don't mean maliciously beating it, but maybe when you pushed the shift knob down you weren't pushing it far enough to completely clear the lockout and rubbed it a lot
