When I say abusing I don't mean maliciously beating it, but maybe when you pushed the shift knob down you weren't pushing it far enough to completely clear the lockout and rubbed it a lot
To clarify I never had an issue with it.

My MGW shifter for my 2014 GT arrived to day. Took about 3 weeks. Still waiting on my car to arrive.
I took every thing out of the box and laid it out on the table. Then I placed the stock shifter from my (wife's) 2013 GT (MGW equipped) beside it. No comparison between the two. Stamped out pot metal, plastic & squishy rubber vs machined billet & hardened steel. A genuine work of art. It's a shame to bury this thing under the boot where you'll never see it. But every time I grab hold of it, I know it's there & it makes me grin. If any of you guys are on the fence on this shifter. Just order it, you'll love & appreciate it. Geez... I think I'm in love.

Am thinking of taking the plunge soon. Where is a good place to buy shift knobs. The mgw one looks pretty generic. And what is the point of the deluxe jam nut washer?

I am going to use the stock shifter ball on mine or at least that is the plan, been waiting a week, and counting.

http://www.epcoshiftknobs.com/

^ good place for shift knobs

And the deluxe jam nut is for use with aftermarket shift knobs, balls in particular.

Just picked mine up this morning, will be installing it on Monday with the help of a buddy with a hoist.
I've watched the installation video, taken screen shots with my phone so I can review it on the go if I need to; can't wait til Monday for a change lol!

Called today before ordering. Mine will ship next Thursday! Lucked out a little. Also, anyone know if the alcantra GT500 boot fill fit this thing? Idk if there is any sort of boot modification to be made. I want everything to look clean. I got the black knob and deluxe washer.

Yeah, I called in the morning and she said the MT-82 shifters from this last batch will be shipping today and tomorrow. I got my tracking email a little after noon. I'm so glad that money finally pulled. It was sweating me out have to make sure I had that $450 ready to be pulled at all times.
If you have a recent order you might wanna call and double check when yours will be shipped. I imagine some people may have gotten tired of waiting and cancelled their order which would explain having more shifters ready for shipping.

I'm not sure on that but the shifter comes with a new inner boot custom made for this shifter. It looks clean to me with the stock outer boot.

Cool. I'm assuming the GT500 boot is just as "stock". I just like the material. It works with my GTCS interior a little better.

It does look very technical. I can't wait to compare it side by side to my stock shifter.

It just sucks. We are so busy at work I barely get one day off a week and I wanna take my time with the install. I want it to be perfect.

There is no comparison! It blows it away. Be careful with the 4 studs on the side. They break verrrrry easy. Lol

Ah! Lucky. Mine should be getting shipped this week. And I understand dude. Being so busy with work is going to make installing this a pain. I might just sacrifice some sleep!

Ok the shifter arrived, i am going to install it this weekend. I have the 2014 and the OEM shifter is shaped with some leather on it. I want to keep it.

Has anyone installed this with the 14 OEM shifter knob? It fits on the stock shifter and aligns up with the boot nice. Just wondered if anyone has done this and it come out looking the way the stock one does.

I guess i will find out in a few days.

This will be just in time as I am planning on tracking the car for the first time over the 4th weekend. Going to Mid Ohio to bang some gears.
