Modern Billet Grille Install Question

Hey everyone, decided im going to order the Modern Billet grill, because i want to hide, but keep my factory fog lights. Love the hidden look. Gonna get it from. American muscle but had a question about the install.
I saw the youtube video for the CDC performance grille install, that allowed you to just pop the honeycomb grille out without having to remove the bumper. Can i do the same for the billet grille since im keeping the fogs? Only question i have is will i be able to properly install the new grille hardware. With the cdc you obviously can do it because the grille is open and you can reach in, but wasnt sure if thats possible with this one. Heres the grille im ordering. Thanks for the help!

I don't think the fourm guys are "techs." You would probably want to call for tech help.

That said, if the grille is attached like the 11-12 grille ... good luck getting it out at all. I finally gave up and CUT mine out! That is my only gripe about the Billet grille from AM. Re-using the factory grille surround is kinda ghetto and a huge PITA. I really wish I could have gotten the Saleen grille, but supplies dried up before I was able to get one. I don't think they have made anything for the 13-14 models either.

Yeah i honesty prefer the look of something like the roush grill, but i really want to keep my upper hid fogs. My original plan was to get the roush grille and cs fogs, but after reading up on the cs kit, ive heard they really dont put out that much light. Plus ive always thought the "hidden" fogs look mean as hell.

I installed the billet grill on my mustang, I did not remove the bumper like they recommend. I pulled it out like the CDC. After you remove the grill your going to have to remove the honeycomb from the bracket, then drill 4 holes to hold the billet in place., then just pop it back into place.

Hey I did mine back in December and I installed it by taking off the bumper. It was extremely easy and not hard to do at all. Just take your time. I have no idea how anyone was able to just pull out the stock grille. That seemed impossible For me. There is an install video some where around here.

I got the saleen last friday from a guy up in dayton, your area, when I went to fattboyz who was selling it used for $120. Thank you craigslist. It was in perfect shape and was the revised one that you put the push pin into the bumper with. I love it and so glad it worked out I was in dayton. $120 was cheap for the grill. The guy just wanted it gone.

This link is from cj pony parts for a roush grille. Same concept just different grille. This will at least show you how to uninstall the bumper.

Perfect thanks. Yeah just saw a video on YouTube from the Roush. Looks easy as cake. Ill just pull the bumper. Ordered all my parts today. Got the upper and lower grilles, tri bar pony emblem, and fog light tint so the fogs are less noticeable behind the grill. They should be here on Friday, so ill tackle the install and post pics over the weekend.

What do you like more, the tribar pony emblem offset to the side, or in the middle?

side if you want that traditional look, which I always liked a lot. Center if you want the boss 302 look. Which I don't like as much.

that is your choice though

I did the exact same thing. I like mine in the middle. Just cuz it doesn't make since to have it in front of the fog light.

Im with you on that, im really liking the offset spot. Gotta check it out tho, hopefully the fogs won't be in the way to do that.

I have this on order but it's Back Ordered. Lou over at Stage 3 Motorsport hopes to have them in by the end of the week. He says that it could be up to 3 or more though lol. Apparently, DG Customs is under new ownership. Either way, I can't wait to get that thing on my car!

Well the UPS idiots lost my package, and according to AMs policy I have to wait 8 business days before they will ship me another set, so it looks like it will be a couple weeks before I will get them installed unfortunately.

Got the new grilles installed today! Install was a PITA. Bumper came off, and went on no problem, but the grille fit like S***. After messing around with it, and basically disregarding the instructions all together i got it in place, and secure. I know the tribar logo technically should be to the side a little more, but i had to clear the fog light, and still think its looks pretty good where it is. Over all im definitely happy with the look, just wish the instructions and fit were a bit better. What do you guya think?

Thanks guys. Yeah i actually bought the tint from American muscle for them too, but the tint film was cut at the top in order to fit the fogs in the stock grille. It would have looked stupid with 3/4 of the fogs tinted and the top 1/4 clear. Hopefully i can find an alternative.

yeah should be plenty of options. I personally hate the grill fogs, obviously since mine have been long gone since a few months after I got the car, but tinting them so they are not so obvious, looks pretty good IMHO.

Thanks man. What you think about the tribar emblem? I know its not as far over as it should be, but i had to clear the fog.

looks perfect! I kind of miss having mine but the new grill without modifying it won't allow one. Long as they are not dead center I think it looks great. Dead center and you are just a boss wannabe.

I agree. I couldn't decide between the all black, or the way i put it. But im digging this look now. AM forgot to send me the correct bracket to install the emblem on the billet grille so i had to fab one up in order for it to stay in place. Kinda pissed off they messed up, but whatever, it worked out, and I didn't feel like waiting until Wednesday lol.

haha well glad you made it work. If you want some advice with that pony emblem. Clear coat it. Mine was on my car for about 2 years and after the first year maybe, most of the paint had cracked off. It was mostly just a silver horse with silver stripes. That was why I had posted some pictures of it painted. It looks so bad. haha.

was the exact same emblem.
