Project blackout!

So I got the plasti dip bug after seeing what guys were doing. Had to stop because of a storm, but I did the wheels, side markers, badges, hood vents and even the grille fog lights and pony and the exhaust tips!

Looks pretty slick! Cheap way to get a different look. I eventually plan on a Roush or CDC grille anyway.

Did u take the Faux Cap off in the rear or spray it on the car. If u took it off what did you use to take it off? Looks good!

Thanks. I just left it on the car, taped off about 1" square around it and then used tape and drape to shield the over spray. According to dipyourcar.com, you want about an inch frame around the object to be dipped, so that you can peel it off real nice. Works like a charm. This stuff really is incredible....no idea how they came up with it.

Thanks! I'll be ordering the headlight covers from AM soon for daytime cover up. I debated about just doing the grille surround too...not sure if it would be too much matte black.

Lemme know if you do haha. I need one, and because of my warranty won't be getting a Boss mani for awhile.

I tried those covers and I say don't waste ur time/money. They don't fit the '13s well at all.

Haha gotcha. In order to post in the classified forums you have to have a minimum of 20 posts. After you get that just start a thread in the Mustangs for sale section. Make sure to include a ton of pics and atleast 1 pic with your username and date.

I'm doing this. That looks AWESOME. I'm assuming you took the wheels off, how long did it take to dry?

I'm thinking matte black racing stripes too haha

Thanks dude. I actually just left the wheels on, used tape and drape to cover up the fender from overspray and used plastic trash bag to cover up the rotor behind the wheel. It gives the car a Boss 302 look blacking out the fogs. I thought about racing stripes, but that would take a lot of cans and I'm not sure it would look too good.

Davey,

That is a mean looking car man. I have a black 14' and I planned to do a project blackout as well. Are your fog lights basically useless now?

Thanks man. Yea the fog lights are useless. Turn them on at night and you get this neat halo look behind the plasti dip, but they don't project at all. I really didn't use the fogs much, but being such a new car, I'm having second thoughts about removing them completely. I don't like the honey comb grille though.

I love the unique look of all the lights. People can tell its me from a mile away. I never even noticed how good they look until I parked in front of a glass building.

I wonder how they would look if you left a 1/16 inch untaped ring around the edge to give a more halo look haha.

If you got rid of the grill, and fog lights of course, could you get a front bumper with a fog light mounting point and use the factory fog light switch? Of course the lights would need to be different sizes

Definitely, but matte black stripes on a black car is so subtle. Not sure it's worth the money. I couldn't install them straight and perfect anyway.
