If your rear is shorter than I could see why your going with ultralites. I went with k springs because my rear tires are taller. The extra .25 drop in the rear will balance the difference out for you.

All I'm saying, is the ultralites and sports are not eye noticeable different. .25 in the rear is hard to spot with a trained eye, let alone an untrained one and I doubt anyone could tell them apart based on ride height. Driving them is a different story. Again...just my personal experience though.

Are you sure you measured AFTER the springs settled? I measured my ultralites about 2 weeks after putting them on, and i was dropped almost exactly 1.5" all around.
My point exactly. It's different than the specs from steeda. 1.25 and 1.5 is an estimated drop.

I did let the springs settle, and the measurements were like 1.1 and 1.3 if remember correctly.

What about bmr? Don't they have a warranty against spring sag? Not sure.

I guess i just got lucky, and got the full estimated drop, plus a little extra in the front. I know no 2 sets of springs will settle exactly the same, but figured id ask because we seem to have a pretty large difference in the front.

Yeah...it could be a change in manufacturers too. I might have had a really old set or something, who knows. I've heard people say that 05-10 shocks and struts lower the car more, but I'm not sure how that's possible.

*********update*********

So I just installed the Steeda ultralites, honestly there is no difference in ride quality that I can tell but I literally only put about 3 miles on them, just enough to make sure everything was installed correctly. Install was pretty easy, it took a buddy and myself 2.5 hrs and we were taking our time and fixed an exhaust rattle as well, more on that in a minute.

For future reference, the easiest way to change rear springs is to drop the shock out of the shock tower and also to loosen the end link of that one side, it'll drop the axle plenty to get the springs out and new ones in without much fuss.

Now also there was a rattle from the OTA pipe resting on the panhard brace. Stainless works instructions says to drive the vehicle 25 miles then recheck all bolts to ensure they're tight. Well I didn't do that, I've put probably 300 miles on them and the exhaust rattled for about 280 of those miles lol. Turns out the over axle pipe was loose from the midpipe and it caused the OTA pipe to lay on the panhard brace. Needless to say I turned the OTA pipe back to where it was supposed to be and re tightened it and now everything is gravy, I also double checked all other exhaust bolts and they were all slightly loose.

All in all a very successful day.

Also I bought the 13-14 deck lid black out panel from another member on here today so soon I will be installing that as well!

Btw I now have p springs for sale lol

Well as of right now it's pretty much the same ride height but once it settles it should be a bit lower

I agree. I would also believe what a company like Steeda advertises over someone i don't know from the internet. There is a reason they are one of the leaders in aftermarket parts. Like i said before, i got a full 1.5" drop from my steeda springs. And if I were to put them on another car, i would expect to get 1.5" again.

I still got the advertised drop though. When i see an advertised drop, personally, i am expecting atleast that. Call it nieve of me to assume, but hey, thats what i expected. And got. If i ended up getting less, i would have been upset, and probably ended up going with another spring.
Do i expect the same drop in a v6 vs a v8? No of course not. And i think that Steeda should in fact list them separately, as other companies do.

Cant we all stop, and agree to disagree if necessary?? Its his build thread! I was hoping there would be atleast ONE thread started in this section that wouldn't end up getting closed because it went to hell. Theres alot of helpful information in this thread, about many different parts, and I for one was enjoying it until the bickering started.

+1 he's spending the money, who cares if the drops the same or not noticeable. I'm sure he's happy with his buy. Keep up the good work grabber!

Hahaha i hear ya man. I started out with a bang when i got the car in March... Needless to say, things have slowed way down since. Decided to finally go get my half sleeve finished this upcoming weekend , instead of a mod for the month.

Ok, I finally got the blackout panel installed and it looks great. Only issue I ran into was that I tried to rush it instead of using the proper tools and scratched up the paint under the faux gas cal. Not a big deal but definitely stupid on my part

Thanks!

There's only two more things that I really want to add to this car, and between the two items it's about 10k lol, so I'm pretty much done for now, I mean there will be small things here and there, but I don't know of anything else I want to add. I guess I could make it a track star and add a watts link, torque arm, and Steeda rear chassis brace, but those aren't thing I feel my car NEEDS.

Btw the only things I feel it does need would be a roush tvs and airlift air suspension. But those are pipe dreams lol

I know the feeling. Happened to me when I had my LS1. Its a nice feeling knowing your car is finally getting to where you wanted it to be. Unfortunately for me, it was only a matter of time before i got bit by the mod bug again, and dove into nitrous. That kept me busy up until i sold it haha.

BTW i see your running a 275 tire in the front on a 9 inch rim. Got a question. I just ordered 305/30/19 Ventus VS-3s for the rear, and wanted to take the 275/40/19s i have on the rear now, and put them on the front. Do you think a 275 will fit ok on a 8.5 AMR rim? Im hoping so, or else im going to look EXTREMELY staggered with 245s in the front currently.

It's been a little while since I've updated this thread at all, and I hate to bump this thread back up with bad news but here it goes.

I was cruising down the interstate at 65 mph in 6th gear 2 days ago and I suddenly hear a humming noise that quickly (within about 15 seconds) turns into a quick periodic clanking noise. The noise was coming from what sounded like directly underneath me where the trans and ds bolt together. My first thought was the DS or midpipe was coming off, so I quickly pulled over and checked midpipe just to make sure it was right but I couldn't reach the driveshaft.

I limped off the highway and got it towed home. While limping for about a mile I noticed that the noise was speed dependent and not rpm dependent so I really began thinking my DS was loose. When I got home I only had a few minutes to check out the car so I jacked it up and checked the DS and it was tight, as was the exhaust.

I'm not really sure what's going on with it right now and I won't have a chance to check it out until this weekend, but after the conversations I've had with a few people I'm thinking its coming from the trans output shaft inside the transmission, or something on the back side of the trans internally. I'm no trans expert by any means so if its internal I'm taking it to the dealer. By age and mileage it's still under warranty but I wouldn't be surprised if my warranty work was declined.

It doesn't hurt to ask if it's still under warranty but I won't fuss if they tell me it's not.

Might be time for a tremec magnum XL

Damn, that stinks man. Sorry to hear the bad news. Hopefully you get it figured out quickly, and Ford takes care of you. It seems to be pretty dependent on the dealer, ao hopefully you get lucky. I recently went it for some warranty work (blown pinion seal) and thought for sure they wouldn't cover it because of my suspension mods, but luckily they did. I know a trans is much much much more then a pinion seal, but you never know. Keep your fingers crossed.

Good Luck with the dealer, hopefully you get some real customer support. Do you have USAA?
