Weird Tick

Hey guys I'm new to ME but have always followed closely surfing posts. Anyways, I have a 2013 5.0 auto with a c&l CAI, jlt oil separator, borla axle back, and a bama tune. On my drive home today sitting next to a wall at a stop light I heard a weird ticking noise. Now it's not a constant tick and it doesn't seem to match rpms that I can tell. However, it seems to come from the engine compartment and its noticeable when stationary so I'm ruling out suspension. Happens around 1200 rpm cold or hot and it's a completely random tick. Hooked it up to my ford IDS and everything looks fine even pulled a like vehicle to make sure It's just mine. Any ideas?

There are plenty of noises that these cars make that we're intended not to be heard inside of the car, the sound of the injectors and lifters are just a couple if those that make ticking noises and it's perfectly normal, and if you're next to something you probably just heard the noise of one of those components echoing off of a surface

Agreed. Your engine oil weight depending on weather etc. Can cause this too.

Nah that wouldn't be it. The people who got ticking were running 5w50. Even then seemed to depend on if the car had oil squirters or not.

This sounds pretty normal and I wouldn't be too worried! When you're up against a wall or anything that will make noise bounce off of, you'll notice noises that you shouldn't hear. My 2012 GT make's similar noises if I'm against a wall at a red light or something!

We can look into your tune for you as well to make sure everything's normal with your car! Just give the Bama team a call and they'll gladly hook you up. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Did they say anything about your tune? Are they going to fix it under warranty?

Please keep us updated! I wanna tune my car so bad, but am terrified of something like this happening, and getting stuck with the bill. Hope they take care of you man!

Yup. What they said. If you want to know a car that has a loud *** ticking noise, it's the m3. It's just natural.

I just got mine yesterday and I can hear the belts and stuff when I'm driving slow or idling in town where the echo is terrible. Haven't had a V8 in years so not used to it. Figured it was normal but thought I would ask anyway.

Just get a loud exhaust. Won't hear the engine noises anymore

Ok so the ticking noise are metal shavings from the aluminum cinder heads. Which are conveniently not even available until the end of the month.

Ouch man. That sucks. Are they covering the repairs tho? Even with your tune? Did they even say anything about it?
