Sounds like they just told you it was a new tranny but instead used a quick fix that failed a week later

Hate to hear that. Was speaking to a ford tech from the dealer where I bought my mustang gt the other day. He had a similar car to mine running a tune with an upgraded shifter... He told me the manual transmissions hadn't been problematic. This was a chance encounter in a gun store and had nothing to do with my purchase. Just happened to see him before I went to take delivery of my 2014 GT monday. I did notice on the country of origin sticker it stated the transmission was from China! Wasn't thrilled to see that.

That is very bizarre. I've yet to see anyone go through two tranny's on a stock car like yours in such a short amount of time. I wish you the best of luck with the 3rd!

Ford is sticking the pos ching chang transmission in the mustang because of customer loyalty. When they stick one in the trucks, this life long customer will never buy another Ford. I would have gladly paid more for American made.

And yea I saw them bring in the new tranny, and its 5th that was grinding, no other gears and I wouldn't use 5th for a race....the grinding noise started at 4k when u shift from 4th to 5th and now at whatever rpm it grinds....I have no clue what could be wrong with it.

Exactly, I'm not a racist or nothing but putting a transmission from a foreign place that's suppose to be in an all American car is complete bull *****
That's like saying oh it's an American restaurant with American food and come to find out they serve Ethiopian or Indian food instead
Wtf

Sounds to me like something other than the trans is the problem. Maybe the trans mounts are slightly out of alignment or something else in the drivetrain. I'd say just give me a new car and ya'll can send that one to Detroit.

Yep. Sure is strange. But I see that Ford has already started with the "cover their ***" statements for when the lemon law kicks in soon. Nice. Promise us, Op, that you haven't been doing reverse drops or some other crazy stuff...

I have dd my 2012 with mt82 for over 26k miles, the last 8k plus have been with a paxton and putting 600whp down.
With a mgw shifter helper spring on the clutch removed braided clutch line dot4 fluid and a clutch pedal extender the transmission and shifting feels great. My last car was an 04 gto with a t56 trans and I don't fell like this one is any better or worse.

I only have 1000 miles on my car and an MGW shifter on order, the other day i did a little spirited driving and shifting and i ground the gear going into 5th, as soon as I missed it I laid off the shifter but it still ground a little.

I know how to rebuild the transmission in my Spec Miata race car, so i know when you grind gears like that you are screwing up that gear and if you keep it up it will only get worse.

Question? will the Tremic transmission that i think goes in the GT500 will that direct fit into our GT's. I am hoping that the MGW shifter fixes things but i have a suspicion that the M82 is not the best box going.

No the tremec tr6060 is not a direct bolt on. I'm not sure what you need but a new bell housing and driveshaft are on the list.

JPC makes a package to upgrade to the tremec magnum XL, I think the kit is somewhere around $4500

There is nothing wrong with our transmissions. Learn to drive. Getrag also makes the transmissions that were in the supras.

No problems out of mine, and I am making 600+ at tires. Have a few friends making a little more than me, with no problems on there end either.

Post in for sale or wanted or search eBay or cl or wherever, spamming a ton of tech posts wont help you.

Should have got the automatic. Mt-82 is crap. There's a new thread complaining about it almost daily

I am not 100% positive if this is true (but it makes sense), my dealer told me all warranty transmissions are rebuilt (re-manufactured) and are definitely not brand new. So replacement transmissions my have more or less miles on the then your original but it was pulled from another warrantied problem vehicle, serviced etc.

What's surprising about some the issues noted is that alot of the cars are n/a cars not f/i cars. And ironically my car is f/i with 629 hp and my mt-82 hasn't given me an issue yet! The sheer unpredictability of the reliability of this trans is 1 of the reasons why i ordered a tremec magnum!
