Who's Running Nitrous

Hey guys, I'm saving up for the Zex Blackout system for my '14 5.0. Is anyone else running a Nitrous system around 75 or 100 shot? I'm only going to run it on the track and hopefully pickup some good time in my 1/8th mile, fastest bone stock was 8.725 at 89 mph. I heard 100 shot is about 500 rwhp which will be a great upgrade for not a whole lot of money.

If you're running a nitrous setup let me know which company you went with, who tuned it, and what kind of power you are making if you dyno'd it or strip times!

Thanks!

I am interested in this topic as well. I am also looking at the Black Out system from Zex. I would also like to know what gauges you all have and if there is anything else besides what comes in the kit that is needed. I planned to get a bottle warmer, electric opener, purge kit as well as gauges. I just purchased the Boss dash gauge pod I planned to use for them.

Have you ran that setup on the track or the dyno?

My car was not built for the track so no track times. Yes I just got a new tune. On a dyno jet it is around 586-590 at tires. And on a mustang dyno is 550 at tires.

My god Rapinator, how much torque are you making? You have forged internals now, right?

I could had sworn you already popped a motor and had bought a Aluminator. Guess I'm thinking of someone else. 650 torque is insane, are you spraying from the door at WOT or do you have a set rpm it comes in at? What rpm are you peaking torque at? And is this on 93 pump gas? Sorry to thread jack with so many ?'s. lol

I had motor problems almost a year ago but it wasnt as bad as I thought so I still have stock internals. Now I did post pictures of a motor rebuild from my good friends 5.0 that is now full forged. My Nitrous comes on at 3k and sprays all the way to 7600. With the new tune im not sure where it peaks at since I wont pick it up till Wednesday. Yes I am on 93 still. I will be converting to e85 next month though.

Running the nitrous outlet 100 shot on my 2014. As far as the kits I believe it's one of the best kits on the market. With my bama tune it's a solid gain and feels amazing. If you buy the kit from them definitely get the mustang bracket, makes it install very simple.

100 shot is fun for awhile. I ran a couple bottles through when I was only spraying a 100. I never had a nitrous tune for the 100 shot though. I was spraying the 100 with a NA dyno tune.

Are using a bottle warmer or have any gauges?

Rapinator, what gauge cluster are you using to hold those gauges and what brand wideband are you running?

When you say nitrous gauge, is it like a level gauge, or a psi gauge?

Which Nitrous system are you running? Are you running a bottle warmer or a remote open/close valve?

Sorry for all the questions! Just making sure I do it right the first time.

It is a wet kit. How much are you planning on spraying?

BAMA will only tune to 100 shot, so until I get a dyno tune, that will be it.

Watch your airfuel verry close. I do not recomend spraying with a email tune. I am not a fan of email tunes at all especially For nitrous.

Should I be worried about running lean or rich? I plan on data logging my pulls to clear out any imperfections.

Lean. Running lean with nitrous could be verry bad. Makesure your airfuel is about 12.0 at the higgest while at full throttle spraying.

Just the pressure gauge, bottle heater is on my investment list.

Yes, never heard of people having issues running the bama tunes with a 100 shot. Truth be told I have only used the juice about 7 times, I'm not a fan of it since I'm not running a dyno tune for it and I'm not wanting to rebuild this motor just yet . Only using it for races when money is on the line. I do plan to get a wideband setup to monitor my AF ratios.

The goal was to order headers next then dyno tuning it on a 150 shot.

You will love the 150. Next month I am converting over to e85 with a 200 hit.

Oh really? How do you think the stock internals will hold up to that? Also, who's doing the direct port setup?

Cost to fill up a ten pund bottle is $30 and I should be able to get about 11 runs in before I'm SOL with a 100 shot. YMMV
