A/C

Does anybody else's A/C smell a little funky sometimes when they first turn it on or is it just me?

My A/C stinks really bad too, it started to stink like 1 Month after I bought the car (new) I was really surprised it would start to stink so soon. Of course it doesn't do it every time so I cant bring it to the dealership

It's probably just the smell of all that trapped condensation from when you used it before getting released. Usually A/C has a weird smell when you first cut it on.

If you constantly have recirculation on all the time this will happen as well.

My A/C usually smells funky on a fresh start up after its been parked in the hot sunny weather for a few hours. It's totally normal. I've smelt worse in my sister's BMW lol (close to a dead rat)

Were not suppose to inhale the beginning of the a/c, thats why your always suppose to let your windows down so it can blow out. Thats what some health doc said, but then again who cares lol

I turn the a/c off a minute or so before I get to my destination to let the condensation dry up

Make sure the cabin air filter gets changed often. Usually recommend 10k on those. Also if you have rubber mats or your carpet floor mats are dirty, the a/c vents pull from near the floorboard when on recirculate. I get my mats (carpet) treated with a good detail once a week which helps tremendously. Lastly, mold builds up on the evaporator especially in humid areas. you can do an evap service to clean it and helps prevent future mold build up plus your car will smell awesome for a few days after. Hope that helps

Buschris is right when he says to turn off the a/c before u get to yur destination. Like he said it allows the condensation to dry up. I heard that awhile ago from an older guy and it seems to work. I have done it with every car I owned and I never have got that stinky mildew smell.
