GT500 Spoiler

Tomorrow my new GT500 spoiler from AM will be delivered. I spent an hour this evening removing the old lip spoiler. I broke it removing it. Glad I don't need it any more.

My question is to those who have installed one of these before: are the factory holes sufficient for the new one or are more holes required? I have seen comments both ways. The comments on AM's website are more confusing that helpful.

I have an AM gt500 spoiler and it bolted right into the holes in the deck lid, just make sure you use double sided 3m tape as well to help seal it from water

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case. I put the CS wing on my V6 and had to drill four more holes (but it was worth it).The instructional video shows the 3M tape to already be installed on the spoiler and you olny have to pull the backing off. Was yours like that?

From what i understand, if you have a stock spoiler, it should bolt right on with everything included. Let us know for sure if you don't mind. The gt500 spoiler is my next mod in mind. Just waiting for AM to get the black back in stock.

Holes only need to be drilled if you are installing it on a Mustang without a stock spoiler on. Make sure it is perfectly centered before you put any pressure on it. Good luck.

The spoiler came in and almost instantly went on. From beginning to end it took 26 minutes (I had already removed the old one yesterday). I did one additional step on my own after reading the instructions several times at AM's website. I stopped at Lowe's on the way home today and picked up a pack (4) of M6-10 x 50 screws. I placed the spoiler on my trunk lid with the tape intact and screwed two of the long screws a few threads into the spoiler. This allowed me to set the spoiler in place and have enought space between it and the trunk to remove the tape protection. Had I used the furnished 20mm screws it wouls have been a bit tight. $1.25 well spent I would say. I have attached some shots of the completed installation. I also added the CS side scoops. They took almost as long because the tape was not pre-installed. All in all I like the results.

Thanks GE3G, I like it better than I originally thought I would. I was going to install the CS wing like on my 2011 but they were out of stock in SGM. I was impatient and now glad I was.

That looks really good. I want to get one of those eventually. DIB is always out of stock in the GT500 and GT/CS spoilers for some reason.

Got mine (GT500 and CS) already painted from AM. Good luck.

Very nice. Any reason you went with the AM GT500 spoiler instead of the factory GT500 one? I'm asking cause that's my next purchase.

Installed the GT500 spoiler made by Trucarbon. Used the SVT oem Gurney flap instead of the huge carbon fiber one. Looks awesome and subtle with the Sterling Grey paint. Bolted on with no adjustments. Total time about an hour to remove the original GT spoiler and install this one.

some other Trucarbon parts we installed this week

Interesting, I've never seen this before. Goes nice with the SGM.

The coolest thing about the carbon fiber with the SGM paint is that from most angles, it perfectly blends with the paint. Move around and you finally see the carbon fiber. Have had a TON of positive comments every time we stop since installing the carbon fiber.

What's the best price on AM during like a holiday I can get this spoiler so I know when to pull the trigger? I've seen $300 but I'm sure it sometimes is on sale for even cheaper than that!!
