An evo 8 making 320 to the wheels isn't really that much of a threat. He's probably barely busting into the 12s with that if he's a good driver. If you had an exhaust, tune, intake and some sticky tires you would have to be a crappy driver to loose to him.

Do some suspension work. Power doesn't mean a thing if you cant hook. Being the evo is AWD, if you have a good launch to match your power, no way he stands a chance.

Gears would be a good idea, if you don't already have 3.73s or 4.10s. The Boss Intake Manifold is also quite beastly. I'm personally fond of my short throw shifter, too, so I feel like that is a necessity if you'll be racing the car.

Evil2014GT: He said, "upgraded suspension."

Get some good drag radials and rims. If you can't hook up, you can't win.

I agree all I have is exhaust and a ford racing tune with Michelin sport comp tires and I pulled an evo 8 putting 360 to the wheels you can pull that thing bone stock. But I do recommend long tube headers shop around see which ones you like and I'm getting a new throttle body along with other mods.

Get headers

OP, my recommendation would be to get headers. I just installed the Kooks 1 7/8 with kooks boss 302 catted h-pipe and side pipes. You can expect AT LEAST 15-20 hp and it sounds MEAN! I put QTP electric cutouts on as well so I can be quiet when I need to be.

2011 5.0 mustang mods(??)

Auto or 6sp? A custom tune could help unlock more power and adjust the shift points in an auto. If you have a manual, take a look at this:
https://www.blowfishracing.com/drive...t-bracket.html

Will tighten up the shifting and give you a NHRA legal driveshaft safety loop as well.

The gearing suggestion is a good one, search previous topics for the best rear end ratio for whichever transmission you have.

Lower control arms with relocation brackets, and upper control arms can help control axel hop.
