Rear Axle Fluid Change at 3,000 Miles????

Hey, I have a 14' GT Manual and the owners manual says that the rear axle is lubricated for life, but further down the page it says that it should be changed every 3,000 or 3 months in extreme conditions. I rarely drive the car hard, but I live in GA and the temperature is sometimes over 90 in the summer. The page number in the manual that came with my car is 333, also it is online at under the owner's manual 1st printing (also page 333). How should I deal with this? I just rolled over 1,000 miles and had the oil changed. If someone could clear this up I would appreciate it.

Lol Georgia isn't extreme by any means. The om is referring to something in mud or desert conditions.

Do you have a Torsen LSD or open diff.

The Torsen is bullet proof. No clutches, just helical gears. Ford uses synthetic fluid, unless you are, road racing, dragging or auto crossing frequently, once per year or 12,000 miles is safe.
