2011 5.0 vs 2004 Cobra

Now i have a dilemma, i want to trade in my 2011 5.0 for an 04 Cobra. I asked my families opinion and they think its a downgrade. I dont think its a downgrade because its a cobra. They are focusing on the year 2011 vs 2004. Im thinking i will save a lot more $$ with the cobra because i have to buy more mods to help support all that power if i supercharge the 5.0

My 5.0 has jlt cai, flowmaster outlaw catback, and AM bama 93 race tune. Never dyno it. Has 41k miles

Cobra has posi ported blower, upper pulley(doesnt say what size), jlt cai, AFCO HE, BF idlers, Evenflow Head Cooling Mod, MM CC plates, o/r xpipe, Magnaflow catback. Just tuned making 471/468. Flat A/F numbers 11.5.

Just want to get yalls opinion.

I would do it, cobras are just beautiful in person, they sound amazing, and have forged internals, it's just an all around badass car. But the miles on the cobra do play a role, how many miles does it have?

Both are amazing cars! And thats low for a termi.

Either way you'll be happy. The termi will be a little less on insurance being older and become a classic sooner and have cheaper mod parts over a stang that just came out.
The terminator stang is amazing. But the coyote motor is also amazing. Only you know what you will enjoy more.

I would do it, but lightnings and terminators have a soft spot in my heart. I own a lightning and would love to own a terminator but I have to get either a competition orange or performance white one and I can't find any that aren't ragged the F out. Either that or running 100k+ miles. Once I'm done paying on my 5.0 a 10-12 gt500 or a 03-04 terminator will be my next buy. By then I'll own 4 vehicles outright lol! Can't drive but one at a time!

It's not all about the quickness man. I LOVE the body style and it's the last year of the legendary 5.4. I have a lightning for being fast!

Yeah most of the cobras on this lot are from 31k miles to 49k. Its high end auto in appomatox VA if you live near there.

I personally think its a downgrade... Stock for stock, they can hang with each other, these Coyotes are the best to date with so much potential and modern interior... 03-04 Terminators was my dream car for a long time... But let's face facts, 49k relatively fair mileage for the year, but u don't know what skeletons may be hiding in the closet with it... It is RARE to find a decent Terminator that hasn't been molested, unless u buy from someone who kept meticulously stored and kept bone stock

you can figure out all the other comparisons on your own, my concern is reliability if its a daily driver. Its an 04 so its getting older and things start to happen regardless. You just have to be prepared for that.

Well, I'd say it's a downgrade like others are saying except I was accelerating around a bend that had some rough spots this morning that I was unfamiliar with in my '14 GT and was quickly reminded why I wish it had IRS. That's the only thing I don't love about my car though.

PROS of Cobra:

IRS

PROS of Coyote Car:

Safety
Reliability
Modern Interior
Maintenance has been dine by you

CONS of Cobra

Possible Rust
Unforeseen repairs past and future
Was is properly maintained?
Aging interior that wasn't that good to begin with

Curveball: beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Many would say the Termi, but its not getting any younger. Seals are going to fade and rot. Clear coat won't be so clear. General wear and tear.

I have a 11 premium, and while the Termi is sexy, it's an easy decision. I'm keeping what I got.

Cons of Coyote Car:

Solid rear axle
Not so exclusive

People want what they want... I know someone with a 2012 5.0 base GT who says all the time that he regrets getting rid of his fox body and is bored of his 2012... To each their own, I won't judge

There a number of cons you are forgetting on the terminator. Stock for stock coyote can edge out a terminator but a full bolt on termi with more boost will outrun a full bolt on coyote. That's just one thing. I'd never trade my 5.0 for a termi, but id own a termi and a 5.0 long before I'd own two 5.0s

I love both cars. But if it was me making the decision, I would keep the 5.0. I know they are worth it, and unmolested ones a getting rare, but i just couldn't justify myself paying $22 grand for a 9 year old car, with no warranty, and with 50,000 miles on it.

Very true considering you can get a 5.0 for the same price

With fewer miles and a warranty.

They are different animals all together. I love my cobra but honestly if I had to depend on it everyday I would be uncomfortable. My 03 has 40k miles and I have come across a few oddball parts that are worn out by time.

With that said anytime I drive the cobra random people give me thumbs up and want to check the engine bay out. How many 5.0 drivers get pictures taken of their vehicles on a regular basis.
