Why would you get new tires and rims when the used 5.0 may have great tires and rims. Clearly one can spend 20 k but certainly don't need too for strictly performance and acceleration to keep with Gt500. That extra 10k is mainly cosmetic upgrades.

Rims and tires would be an after thought. I didn't add them to the list because like you said they may be perfect.

So after doing a lot of research, soul searching and more research, I spoke with a Ford salesman my family has been using for the past 20-30 years and pitched my idea to him. He said Shelbies are no longer available and that I would be better off getting a used 2012 Boss 302 vs a new 2014 GT special ordered to how I want, for the price.

That being said. I got on the old inter web and found out that there are only 17 2012 Boss 302's in Canada on autotrader. They seem to be a rare bread. The problematic part of this is I am still in Italy, my mom is here visiting and my dad will be here next week to join her. I am back in Canada for Christmas in two months. There are three for sale in the reasonably immediate area to my parent's home. My dad could go take a look for me. But, I know I fit in a 2010 GT (6'4") and the inner dimensions have stayed the same...part of me says I should call my dad and have him go take a look and talk shop (issue. I have the finances to cover this purchase but the logistics of it are what makes it hard, and not having test driven them myself or even sat in them and knowing 110% I like it) or I wait the two months and hope that they are still available even though they go fast and see whats on offer then...if anything.
As mentioned above I will fit an Matt K said he is 6'5 and fits fine... its the perfectionist of leaving nothing to doubt in me that has the hard time deciding.

Ahhhhhh its frustrating.

(I move back to Canada from Italy summer 2014)

So here's my two cents..if I was in your situation I would decide how bad I wanted the mustang, never mind if it's a GT or GT500 or 302. You have you said a year to 17 months until your going to purchase one right? So I think it's smart asking everyone what they think ect. But if I was you when I got back home I would see how much money my budget was at and then decide if I wanted a mustang now or wait until I had more money for the "king" of mustangs. Personally I bought a 2014 GT Premium and I absolutely love it. Yes everyone has a 5.0 butttt I wanted a mustang NOW not in 2 years when I could finally afford a 2011 GT500 lol. Also just realize that for 40k for a USED GT500 you can get a brand new 2014 GT Premium for 34,500k like I did andddd that leaves some extra cash for mods. Yes the GT500 will hold it's value but it's also gunna be a used car. Just my way of looking at it. I wanted a seat that only my a** has/will be in no ones else's lol. Goodluck!

Thanks Staytru.

I was thinking with me heart earlier and not with my brain last night and this morning. Since there are going to be a lot of changes coming up in the next 9 months for me (moving, buying a house ect), that gives me 9 more months to save up more and be in a more solid position when the time comes to physically kick tires and not view them on the net. The angel on my shoulder won this round and common sense prevailed. Do I want one? Yes. Do I want or need one right now? No. There is always be something available in some way shape or form.

As for buying a new 2014, the salesman who is an honest no BS salesman said that I would be better off with a used Boss vs getting the GT. But that is just case. As I want to keep it for ever I wanted to up the stakes a little bit. He said that price vs what you get the boss was the better way to go. All said and done the GT would have been more or less what the boss' are going for.

Right now 2014 GT can be had for as little as $26k. Check California ford dealerships to verify. If I could do it over again I would buy the latest model 302. You get a close to racing car for a very low price. If you really want something better get a new corvette stingray.

I think you meant 302, there is no such thing as a "Boss 202"

Personally I still don't see why the OP should spend so much money right away on a 302 or GT500. As he said he's going to drive it until it dies so resell value should have no effect on his decision. Me personally, I love doing the work and putting things I want on the car, not what other people like and have put on the car which is what you get when buying used. For me buying a new GT seems like the best way to go.

After laying dormant, researching and putting my hard earned pennies away I happened upon a 2013 Boss 302 in School Bus yellow around the corner from me ripe for the picking. I pounced on it with only 2500 km (1491m).

Thanks a lot.

It was a no brainer. I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Now I just have to finish working on getting my garage back up to standard

What would of happened to the car if it did see rain? Would it melt or fall apart? Would the car not start? Would the car rust and fall apart? Just curious?

It would whine and complain it's wet, suck it's thumb and reach for a blank and demand to be dried off then made warm.

My 2011 GT w/25K miles has never seen rain... never washed...always ragged. So Cal has its advantages.

Nice ride... congrats! They're big time fun.

Sitting in the rain and driving in the rain are two different things. There is a lot more cleaning to do after driving in the rain. OMG, that engine bay!

Now that is a sweet ride!! Its actually what I wanted, but I also wanted to get an automatic so the wife could drive the car too. So I compromised on a GT Premium Convertible since Boss's (or GT500's) don't come in Auto. I've tried to get it up to Boss 302 level track worthiness by adding Brembos and a few other mods.

The "wide"? I hope that is a typo, or you are in deep trouble!

I see you fixed that. Smart man!
