Does a smaller tire effect tach like the speedo

I have a 2011 5.0 with the stock 18" rims and was wondering if I put shorter 17" rims and tires on for the drag strip will it change my tach like my speedo?
For the drag strip I could care less about the speedo but a tech that is no longer accurate is an issue.
I would think the tach would not be effected but I am not sure.

Thank you in advance for your answers and conformation

The tach is always based off of the engine. Drivetrain will not matter.

As long as your OD of the tires is the same, the speedo/tach will remain the same. Smaller tires make the engine turn faster to go the same mph. You'll be revving higher through the traps, maybe even having to shift another time depending on how drastic the difference in tires is.

Tire sz will not affect the accuracy of the tach.
