The popping is why I'll never take my resonators off. Makes it sound cheap.

Everyone has their own opinion of what sounds good. That's why there's so many different exhaust tones out there

Hey guys, I'm on the same boat as Thunder69 is. I just received and installed a set of frpp sport axlebacks since I liked the tone they had. The clips I saw on YouTube were deceiving and I thought the volume on them was going to be a lot louder. Now I want to get rid of my resonators and came across this thread. Did anyone here actually end up removing them? If so, I'd like to hear some clips or opinions. Other than my axlebacks, my entire exhaust and engine are completely stock so listening to clips with LT headers or cat deletes will only make me salivate since I love in California and can't run that kind of set up. Any help??

I'm guessing the the FRPP sport are very similar to the Borla S Type. I wanted a bit more sound, I deleted the resonators. http://youtu.be/aTrTAOmLVvYClick image for larger version

Sounds awesome, just the sound I'm looking for. Do you still have a deep tone at idle?

Excellent, I'm going to pull the trigger on the resonator delete. The sound is great from these axlebacks they just need a bit more volume. Thanks gtstyles2.

I'm looking forward to the new aggressiveness, it is way too tame for a 5.0. These FRPP Sports Axlebacks are not supposed to be California Legal yet, they are no where near as loud as Borla Ataks. Those are both louder than mine and still California legal. Go Figure...

Another question for you: The resonators/mid pipes are pretty close to the gas tanks so welding and cutting while installed can be a bit of a hazard. Did the shop remove the entire mid pip from your car when they did the resonator removal?

OK Cool, I really hope these FRPP Sports gimme that kind of tone. If not, they might just have to go on ebay so that I can buy the real deal (Borla).

Thanks for the vids, I appreciate it. What kind of set up is the Sterling Silver Mustang running? It sounds good too.

Well these are Borla, I'm just taking an educated guess and assuming FRPP sport is about the same as the S Type

Yeah that one! It sounds real good with that H-pipe. If only I could run that set up in Cali!! Do you or Anyone here have experience with an after Market H-pipe? Aside from the deeper tone and it yielding less HP than an x-pipe what makes it so different from stock?

Sorry for all the questions but I just want to educate myself further before making a bad decision.

So I havedecided to go with the borla over axle pipes. Debating putting them on myself, but I dont know hard much of a pain it will be. You would think the four connections would be straight forward, but I have seen alignment issues on some threads and may just pay the dealer $100 or so. I wasnt to get this done in the next few weeks

Roush + O.R. mid pipe = beat up 1980 chevy pickup. It sounds horrible.

^ this, it's what made me take the jump to the FRPP sport. It's too loud for me with the offroad xpipe and long tubes, I'm gonna dynamat my spare tire cover and possibly switch to GT500's

It wasn't the loudness for me. It was the horrible rasp that was the nail in the coffin. My Cobra louder but it didn't have that god awful rasp.

UPDATE! FRPP SPORT sound much better without resonators. Just had Borla O/A pipes installed, sounds perfect, to me that is! Nice deep Rumble, and opens up nicely when you get into it!
