I don't recommend Roush if you plan on future exhaust mods...it's great if that's the ONLY exhaust mod you'll ever do, but unbearable with longtubes, even with a catted X-pipe...

What do you mean they are unbearable? I have them on mine, and I was thinking about getting long tube headers.

Just sold my roush. If you plan in long tubes. I suggest you do the same. You won't be able to hear the person in the passenger seat if you do the long tubes.

I have the Roush and love them. Think ahead though...I'm ready to switch to an o/r x so now I have to go through the trouble of finding a set if GT500 axle backs before I do the swap. Otherwise it'll sound like poo...go with the GT500's.

I sold my roush for 300 locally. And after the rebate for am. It should cost me around 300 for new gt500's. so I lost money at the beginning. But am good now.

Did you do any other exhaust mods? Or just swap the axle backs? And what are your thoughts on the change? I'm just worried that it won't be loud enough going from the Roush...

Roush axle backs are good if that's all you are gonna do to your exhaust.

I have them sold. But haven't actually taken them off yet. Lmao. That will be this week. And I'm waiting for him to pay me before I order the gt500's. so I might be riding around axlebackless for a couple days. O-o. But i am in the market for an off road x pipe. And that is the only reason I am selling the roush. I absolutely love the sound of them. Just heard to many times they sound terrible with any other exhaust upgrades.

It really depends on what you're looking for.

I bought my car 2 weeks ago, the previous owner did a muffler delete and it was a straight pipe from the axle back.

Although it sounded good when you start it, and rev, but was embarrissingly loud in my residential block and even just "normal" driving.

I just changed it out for a GT500 axle back, yesterday and so far I like it a lot. Much MUCH quieter. still has some snarl to it at start up and when you are at WOT. Price wise it was good too. I paid about $265 shipped from ebay(225+shipping). It was a take off from a GT500 and didn't have clamps (reused existing). Not 100% new, but very close and the price was right.

I'm not going to change the rest of the exhaust, so I may change my mind at some point and want to go louder, but I'm daily driving this and I need to have no drone, and be able to start my car at 6AM or 11PM and not feel bad waking the neighbors.

I had a similar post about this. Borla S Type if you got the money. Roush if you do no other upgrades in the future. Gt500 otherwise is the winner

Resonators still in but my cats are gone. I had flowmaster A/T classics (40 series). They sounded good until I deleted the cats. Raspy, tin canny, and LOUD! I'm buy gt500's this week. I plan on long tubes and matching o/r mid pipe soon

Just say "no" to Flowmaster Pro-series Hushpowers. Way too much drone during acceleration and at freeway speed. (2011 GT)

I'm running American racing LT headers O/R X-pipe and bassani axle back. It is the meanest sounding mustang exhaust I have ever heard. Its loud as hell at WOT but there is no drone anywhere and at freeway speeds I can hear all the passengers.

Also just wanted to let you know that I have a Magnaflow street axle back for sale. PM me if your interested.

I'm thinking of getting these. Not sure just yet. Your comment about the "drone" does help in my axle back selection though.
