Vinyl Stripes

Hello everyone.

I've decided to get some Matte Black Vinyl Stripes for my black 13' Stang. I'm just having trouble deciding the best way to go about installing them. I prefer not to spend a ton but I want the best. So my biggest question is if I should do it, or have a local shop do it? I know decalshoppe.com sells the pre-cut kits that I could install myself or I could buy from AM who sells a good 3M kit. Another option would be to go get them done at the dealer, who I assume uses OEM stripes. I also found a local shop that uses ORACAL Vinyl but I'm not sure of the cost or skill level. It seems as though there are a ton of options so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

You can do it yourself. It's really easy. The only problem is that you need a very clean place to do it. You get some debris and dirt under those vinyls and they will look like garbage. Other then cleanliness it's easy as cake.

I bought stripes from American Muscle and put them on myself. Was easy to do for a newb car guy like me. I didn't get my stripes on perfectly, but they look decent enough that I am satisfied. Since you have a '13 which I am sure is worth a ton of money, you might be best letting the pros handle it!

Trust me in the end the extra money having a professional do it will be worth it. The headache of doing it yourself will hurt like getting kicked in the jewels. Air bubbles will be the biggest problem as well as any foreign objects getting on your car if not cleaned properly. Just bite the bullet and pay a Pro.

I have to agree, let a pro do it. We all have pride in doing things ourselves, but every time you look at the car and see air bubbles, your gonna be sick.

I did mine myself, it took 2 days. It was a pain, I won't lie, but I saved a few hundred bucks.

I'd see what other projects your local shop has done. Are they clean? Does the place have a good reputation? Will they fix your stripes if you think they're crooked?

If it's a good shop, pay them to do it. If you see that they do kinda crap work, maybe take a stab at doing it yourself.
