Dyno number low

I Have a 2013 5.0 auto with steeda cai, bama tune, bbk shorty, bbk cat delete, xpipe and only made 391 to the ground. Isn't that kind of low?

OP,

391rwhp is a very solid number for an automatic 5.0 with those bolt-ons. Keep in mind auto's won't make as much HP as a manual because of torque converter slip (even when locked). To me, you seem to be right on par with other bolt-on auto 5.0's!

Also, don't forget chassis dyno's are a tuning tool and help show a good reference of a cars capability. What really matters is how fast the car actually is at the track!

Shane

Seems pretty accurate to me as well. You bbk shorties are basically doing nothing for you performance wise over the stock headers. What were the conditions during the dyno? Temp? Time between pulls? Etc.
What bama tune are you running?

Yea a DS would definitely help. I think the stock GT shaft weighs like 40 something pounds and a aftermarket aluminum is about 20.

A ds will definitely help. Your dropping 20 lbs of rotational mass from the drive train. I would do lcas and uca first tho to help you hook, if you haven't done so already.

12.5 is a decent time with those mods. So dont sweat the dyno numbers. Tracks where it counts. With a ds, lcas, uca, and a damn good set of tires, i bet you would get down to atleast 12.1-12.2 if not lower.

One little piece of advice....make the most of what you have and know when you're happy because there's no end to the mod bug, if you let it take over....and you sure ain't going to get many significant improvements on a budget.

I decided to max out what I had, by just doing tires and traction aids, plus a very mild tune to make the car more pleasant in daily operation. So, I'm into the car about $1000 and it's knocking on the door of 11s, full weight. That makes me pretty happy, especially since I have a drag bike if I want to go really fast.

391 sounds right. I have an 11 Auto and made 383 on same mods without the shortys or x-pipe.

Are you really running a 12.0 with a Procal and tires/traction?

Yes, on a full weight car with every option but glass roof.

There's a reasonable chance I'll stick it in the 11s if the stars align. I could probably get there with a powershift or two but, won't take the risk with the MT82.

Glad to see there are still some people out there who are happy with their ProCal's like I am.

Unfortunately the local drag strip got closed down due to crooked government official’s getting paid off, now the only place we have to run is on the streets.

I can tell you that the ProCal does run well though, I was able to beat a 430rwhp (he just had to dyno tuned) H/C/I GTO recently.
