I'd guess that it isn't going to cause a power increase because it is an axleback - the real gains with exhaust are found by going catless with a good midpipe.

As far as sound, that's anyone's guess. Neat idea, but I wonder about the complexity of it. The more complex, the higher the likelihood of failure (in my book anyway).

We're really excited about the BBK Varitune Muffler. This is something very unique and game changing to the exhaust world! You can literally adjust the tone of your exhaust with the twist of a valve... This is something I've always thought about! I love having a nice mellow tone sometimes and other days I would love to have a muffler delete or straight through design, BBK's Varitune can actually do this. We've been working very closely with BBK over the last few years to build this system!

The BBK Varitune performance mufflers utilize an internal "Adjustable Power Valve". When in the closed position the valve blocks the exhaust flow forcing it through all three chambers of the muffler for a classic mellow sound. When in the open position the valve "uncorks" the exhaust flow allowing it to take the path of lease resistance to act more like a straight-through muffler for a rich throaty exhaust note.

We offer this system in Aluminized and Stainless steel! I think you guys will really like this system. The video's don't do this exhaust justice, it sounds great in person!

Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance. Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

I agree and 8-10 decibels is not that much.

Actually an increase of 10db's would be perceived as double the volume.

10 db is the equivalent to comparing a power tool to standing on a busy airport runway

I heard the opened one and it sounds good on a new 5.0 at WOT but sounds pretty raspy and tin can like. Haven't heard the closed part.
