Exhaust no good

Just switched to gt500's from am and I wondering what my problem is. Just got them hooked up and was expecting a great sounding exhaust note to only find out that they actually sound more quiet than the stock exhaust. What could I have done wrong for this to have happened??

Well let's see.......you ordered the GT500s. They are quite mild in comparison to others unless combined with a o/r mid pipe or LTs. I have them paired with LTs and a o/r X and they sound great. If you are going to run just mufflers then Roush,Borla or Magnaflow would have been a better choice.

You did nothing wrong, just didn't research enough before you bought them, saying that in a non a$$ way. The GT500s are mainly used with offroad exhausts, no cats and long tubes basically, bc the car gets so much louder that the mufflers do a good job of not making it overkill but keeping rasp down. The roush ABs for example are awesome for stock exhaust systems, but once you go O/R X or H they sound raspy and pop a lot. If you have a stock system I would get them off the car immediately and get some roush/flow masters/borla ABs for some options ASAP

I actually had roush. But and now saving for o/r x. So I put the roush on Craigslist and instantly got a hit (don't have enough saved up for the x pipe yet) so I went ahead and sold them and bought the gt500s. But im seriously thinking some thing is wrong. I can barely hear them with the windows down and getting on the gas.

No even going to lie. Kinda embarrassed they sound so low.

Just bare with it til you get money for O/R X. They have some good ones for 300 and some change. That way you won't take another $ hit

Go back and recheck your install but I doubt it's that. Did you want something quieter?

No. Just knew going to the o/r x and having roush that it would be way to loud. So I decided to change now instead if waiting and then maybe not finding someone to sell them too.
And these it the ones I got from am. They say loud throaty note. Lol.

You got what you paid for. They are throaty and not raspy. They will sound that way until you ditch those cats. Trust me you will like it. It sounds more tuned with no drone.

See the size difference... Also re-read the description that they sale. It's GT500 STYLE... Not the actual FULL on, gt500 mufflers.

The pictures I uploaded are the real deal and also cost twice as much. These are the GT500 "touring" mufflers. They also sell the sport mufflers, which are standard equipment on the 08 KR and the FR500.

Well then I would expect them to sound different if they are a touring and sport style. I think he may be used to sound of the Roush and this is why the GT500s sound so quiet to him. I wouldn't run them alone but they sound great with full exhaust.

I'd willing to selling for 300. Don't have tips but you can buy tips for like a 100 bucks and then you've saved 300 bucks lol.

Otherwise, good luck

What about corsa exhaust. I think they sound awesome. But I never hear anyone talk about them. I've got offroad x pipe with corsa exhaust. And it sounds very nice to me

I meant more along the lines if cat delete suggestions and/or other stuff. Not going to do headers due to cost for now.

Thanks a lot. An since I'm 2012. I take it I need the 419.99 one. Why would the 2011 be different than the 2012. But the 419.99 one fits 2011-2014

One's just made of stainless and the others are regular steel. They just haven't updated the site since the 2011 regular pipes have been on there for ages.

Try getting on the gas a bit with the 500s. They are very quiet in normal operation but still sing reasonably when you wail on it. It's not Roush or Dronemaster but, it does get louder.

Just got the vmp tune put on two days before. I have really been getting into it a lot. Lol. And what's going to be the pros to getting the stainless over the regular. And I had my eye on the $500 dollar stainless works. What would be the big difference between the two. This whole switch from roush to gt500s was for the added horses. And I knew adding the o/r x was going to help with my sound affair.

Wut? No axleback is worth a damn for performance, it's all about what sound turns your crank. Everyone knows this.

Stainless just looks nicer and lasts longer.

Mine are factory pull-off's and sound perfect compared to my Flowmaster 10-series I had, but I don't have cats either.

The o/r mid pipe is where you are going to see the gains. Some claim the o/r mid pipe gains to be as much as LTs.

Meaning: the only reason I switched from roush to gt500's is because my next mod is the o/r x pipe. That's the only reason I switched exhaust. I absolutely loved the roush. But have read several times that with the roush and any other exhaust mod. They sound way to loud. So I switched to the gt500 and although I knew they were going to be less loud. I didn't realize this much. But. I am asking the difference from the stainless and regular for the x pipe. Is the stainless going to be double the price better?? Also between the lethal performance ones with the link above^^^ and the $500 stainless works x pipe. What would be the big difference between price.

Since nobody but me should be under my car. The niceness doesn't matter. And I'm guessing the length is going to differ but I can get news one later down the road. So the 299.99 lethal performance 3" off road x pipe will be my next purchase. Which will help get my exhaust sound louder and give me some gains in the performance department too.

well, some kinds of stainless equal quality...

304 is the most common grade of stainless and is half-decent. Nothing special, there are better steels, even within the 300 series. Better than the usual 409 crap the OEMs often use in exhaust.

Hey guys. Just my luck. Found this on CL. But he's saying its stainless lethal performance off road x. My only problem is. On there website. Stainless is 2 piece and the regular steel is one piece. He's asking $300 but I will only offer him 250 if it is in fact stainless. But only 175 if its just regular still. Said he bough a month ago with 400 miles on it.
