Not saying there is but wonder if there is more to the story on why they failed emissions other than just having headers and high flowing catted x pipe.

I have no yearly emission testing where I live, so I don't give a duck either. Lmao. I got me long tubes and off road x pipe. I can tell you in Maryland they do not do any sniff test. They hook up the emissions machine to the same plug your performance tuner goes in. As long as the machine reads okay on the plug and play, your good.

On the emissions testing here they plug into the OBD 2 port and they check under the car for your cats if there are no cats they will select it and you will fail. I've noticed alot of cars that dont have them are running cleaner.

What if you have high flowing cats, does the emissions people know the difference? Also Maryland does the plug into the OBD 2 port as well but they don't look to see if you have cats. Can't a tune take care of the emission machine picking up someone with no cats. I thought a tune will throw the emissions machine off to think the car has cats that way the cars check engine light doesn't go off all the time. The tune tricks the ecu to thinking the cats are there.

The guy here also had a tune for emissions and he still passed when his car was tuned. He had an o/r x pipe before he switched to a catted.

The tune turns off the rear o2 sensors. That's what throws the code

Oh, got ya. So could one have bama make a tune that turns on the rear 02 sensors for emission testing purposes

Yes. When you get a tune for or pipes that is included. I had it done on my 3.7 so that it would throw a CEL

So that way you could pass emissions

In a sense. But not in all circumstances. Only on the obd2 port. Not visual or sniffer

It's all for looks! The gains (if any) are so minimal. I love the way the 13-14 hoods look, but is a pain with an after market CAI. There are plugs that "help" keep the water from reaching the CAI.

Mine is an 11... I love the way 13-14s look, but I'm kinda glad I don't have to worry about the hood vents and my CAI... I ignore all those ppl that talk crap about my hood scoop not being functional, it came stock anyway... But yea I don't see how an aftermarket "functional" hood can be SO much better when we get all the air we need thru the snorkel in the front grille

CAI

I had the same questions about CAI as other people on here. (I got a new '14 GT as well). I was ready to drop some $ on an aftermarket one, until I took another look under my hood to realize they come with a CAI. So doing some additional research took me here, where you all confirm that it comes with one and not to waste $ if your not going to re-tune it. (which i don't plan on at the moment)

So thank you all for the knowledge! I can now go find an exhaust I want...
