Thank God I didn't miss another oil thread. I'm sure new information has come out since the last one was started 15 minutes ago.

Other than oil threads, the search button is useless on this site. You'll get answers from every year model, that takes hours to wade through all the bs.

Don't know why so many people get all worked up about threads that are posted over and over. If you don't want to post something useful then don't read or post anything. I've used the search function and looked through old post for hours and not found any help.

This info is from SVT Forums. Unleashthebeast over there is a oil guru. I personally use 5w30 Penzoil Ultra and track my car a few times a year but also drive in the Texas heat just like you.

Quote:
8 quart fill (Coyote GT)
8.5 quart fill (Track Pack GT & Boss 302)

Amsoil ALM 5W-20 – If your car is 100% stock, never raced, driven like a grandma, no matter the climate….use this.

Amsoil AZO 0W-30 - If your car is driven year round up north in very cold temperatures and is lightly modded....use this.

Amsoil ATM 10W-30 - If your car is moderate to heavily modded, used in hotter climate states, or never driven during winter months in northern states...use this.

Amsoil AMO 10W-40 - If you have a Boss 302 or Track Pack GT, and you road race your car....use this.

*Boss 302 and Track Pack GT owners - If you do not road race your car, use Amsoil ATM 10W-30. 5W-50 spec for this engine is overkill and results in excessive oil pressure.*

I think Mobil 1 extended performance which is a true base IV fully synthetic oil would suit you great. Since your in that heat, go with 5w 30 weight.

When I had the TRACKEY installed I was told that if I didn't have 5w-50 in it while the TRACKEY was active it could cause damage to the engine. I don't know how true that is but that's what I was told.
