If you are beginning to look for a house do not purchase/sell/trade anything until you close. You will hurt your chances for getting a home loan. It doesn't matter if you're saving money or getting in a better position, it tells the underwriter you like to take on debt often. The more stable your credit the better.

The rule of thumb I tell people is do not apply for any credit for 6 months before purchasing a house. Do not sell any big ticket items for the same amount of time.

Did the spark plugs fix your car? If so and it doesn't have any problems 25k seems reasonable to start the negotiating process. But if it still has issues then be sure to be ethical.

If you just wanna wash your hands of the car quick then trade it. If you're in no hurry then try private party. I daily drive a 2012 grand Cherokee overland an swear its the bed ride an most comfortable SUV I've ever driven. I test drove every SUV from $60k down to $25k and the jeep blew them all out of the water. You'll love it.
