Barton bracket with or without short throw shifter

I installed the Barton bracket and love it no missed gears. Is it worth getting the shifter also? It will not increase my chances of missing 3rd because the gears are so close?

The shifter and bracket combo is very, very nice.

I just installed both 2 days ago and I can tell you that the shifts are shorter and reverse is a little hard to get to but you will get use to it. I would get the shifter to complete the combo.

Personally I would get the shifter, especially if you're concerned with missing 3rd gear. The shifter compliments the Barton bracket very well and provides an even more confident shift when slamming gears. You'll have no worries missing a gear, I can promise you that!

On the other hand, I do know quite a few people who only run the Barton bracket. They don't mind the longer shifts and enjoy the light effort of the stock shifter paired with the 2post bracket. Then again, these people are less concerned with racing or aggressive driving too.

It's all a matter of opinion!

Shane I believe he is concerned with missing third gear if he goes with the short throw shifter...

I'd recommend getting the combo too: it's worked well for me.

I just installed the 2 post and shifter into my new car and love it. The only downside to the shifter that I have is the feedback noise you get while driving but it's well worth it.

Yes exactly. Sorry if I wasn't too clear! I was trying to express that a Barton short throw shifter paired with the Barton 2post bracket will make high RPM shifting into to 3rd gear or any gear easier. So the OP shouldn't be concerned with missing 3rd because of the short throw shifter.

Hope that clarifies things!

Shane

Actually I'm going by the movie "Next Friday" the 1st one, lol.... But yea I don't believe in doing mods in half, if I can't afford at once, I gather the parts over time as I can afford them piece by piece.... Then, when I have all the parts I need, I install everything at the same time
