Messed up my JLT

So I installed my jlt intake two days ago and I left my stang at home today so no one would hit it at the parking lot which gets crazy on Saturday, my old man decided to take the car for a spin, then calls me that the car wont start anymore after 15 min of driving.....I had out a plastic bag over the filter because it was going to rain, did not think anyone would take it for a spin t

Okay I did a water test with the crappy jlt water crap that they give u for the 2013 hood before putting the jlt and my stock filter was wet, so if I was not going to drive then I figured hey why not put a plastic bag so water wouldnt get in the filter

Been running AirAid CAI for a year and a half. Didn't know about the water issue for almost 6 months after installing it.

Been through torrential downpour bad enough you'd swear Noah would be float by soon with his orgy of animals.

Haven't had any problems. Either my engines a super engine or it just doesn't soak in enough water to make it harmful.

Even so I fabbed my own vent guard from a piece of rubber foam. Still leaks but I guess not as much.

If it's cheap, I'd buy a new filter just for the looks. Sucks when you buy something new and too soon it doesn't look like new anymore.

So you putting a plastic bag on your air filter and your dad taking your car for a spin is jlt's fault?

Has anyone ever had any damage from water with one of these intakes? My cobra is probably more open than any of these new cars and i've never worried about sucking water up.

I think everyone is freaking out over a non issue.

+1
He should just take it all the way back and blame his mom! If she never birthed him he wouldn't have this problem.

Roflmao!!!

The C&L CAI that's designed specifically for '13-14 GTs works great. The heat sheild comes up over the back side of the filter and sits high enough to where it seals to the underside of the hood right in front of the vent. I've never had water on my filter in over a year since I bought it. I had the JLT at first, but experienced quite a bit of surging, no matter where to filter was positioned on the intake tube.
