exhaust help

Hey guys, before you say "another exhaust thread" just read lol. So I've had my roush axle backs for around 3000 miles and they sound nice but way too raspy. So I want a catback and the best I could think on a budget was to get the heartthrob straight pipes and gt500's. After doing some research, turns out that the straight pipes have really bad fitment issues. What catback would you recommend that would be under or around 800$, that would be the loudest and deepest. I don't mind a little drone but if its to a point where I have to yell inside to car then I would just get some different axlebacks. Thanks for the help.

check out the Jeg's cat to axle kits. Very affordable and fitment was spot on. It's factory 2.75" piping.

Thank for the reply, I was hoping for 3 inch piping. Do they carry 3 inch?

That I don't know. I ordered the cat to axle kit without the resonators and it was 230 shipped. It said it was on special for like 80 bucks off. Couldn't turn that deal down. Borla and lethal performance want 350 for just over the axle pipes alone and the jegs kit comes with an H pipe. Not sure if it's offered with an x pipe.

If you're not dead set on 3in piping just get the resonators cut out.

I want the cat to axle as well to add to my Ford Racing sport axle back. I guess I need the 2.5 inch to do a direct bolt on

You can buy the 3inch cat to axle and it will fit.

Hmm. I thought there would be a problem since the current setup has 2.5 inch at cat and Axleback connections.

Yes. Straight through muffler designs with off road pipes will rasp.

Can an exhaust leak cause a ticking sound that's not too loud? It ticks with the same rhythm of the exhaust pulse. But just goes tick tick.

Doesn't make the sound at part throttle all the way up to say 6000rpm. Only when under load at least half throttle+. Also, revving the motor while parked makes no tick. Revved up flooring it all the way to like 5500-6000rpm. No ticks. No sound from engine bay except intake.

Driving next to the wall the ticking sound cant be heard at all. Window up trying to listen through the dash and firewall can't hear anything.

I think I've had this before after installing the straight pipes but wasn't too bad. But after installing the Boss IM it sounds just a bit louder.

Also if going only 40-45 mph and loading the throttle it makes a tick but adds a putt putt type sound so... Leak right?

Took it to an exhaust shop but said no leak. Tried searching exhaust leak acceleration under load on you tube but nothing clearly what I hear. Not likely lifter or cam cuz idles fine. No clacking on parked rev.

That's weird! If an exhaust shop said that its not a leak then take it to another exhaust shop and have them check as well. Do more research I've read a few places about that ticking noises.

Also a weird thing is making a right turn and loading it makes the sound louder. I'm thinking weight shift causing the pipes to flex more than just going forward because the engine is shifting a bit laterally against the mounts.

Damnit I guess I'm heading up to another exhaust shop along with a bottle of soapy water and not leaving until the spray it down with suds.

I'll do the video this weekend. Don't have a camcorder just my phone. Taking her into the body shop today for the bumper repair she suffered from getting rear ended last week. Hope they don't take her for a joyride. If they do hopefully they'll properly warm her up.

Any ideas on joyride prevention techniques?
