Upgrading to 3:73 from 2:73... you could see close to a half second off your 60 time if not more.

Bang for the buck you can not beat gears and a tune.

That's B.S. There's no way a six banger is going to drop half a second off their 60' with a gear change.

2:73 to 3:73 is a huge jump. You do realize a gear change requires a tune. Guaranteed it will!!!

That is if they are talking. 2011+ models and we are also talking 0-60 times not 60 foot times.

It does not require a tune but WILL throw off your speed so it has to be flashed back correctly. However to get the most out of the gears you will deff want to do a time if u want to see big 0-60 gains

Contradict this? Try running 3:73 gears in an automatic that has shift points for 2:73 gears with out a tune and see how long the tranny last!

It's amazing how a lot of guys assume we are all talking only MT's. I thought the auto did not need shift points until my buddy told me it does. Flashing the speedo is just as bad as tuning, as in losing your warrantee. Unless dealer agrees to do gears and flashing. So if you are putting in gears and just flashing the computer you might as well just tune it too... Hence my words "tune required" how's that? ha ha ha

Well which is it? Your first post says your dealer has done it and a tune isn't necessary and then you say a tune is necessary? Doh!

I'm at about 3 sec 0-60....on a slick tire and a prepared track, for all that 0-60 is worth. I'm more concerned about the 1/4 mile

Hey Kona I got a time of 4.8 on my mostly stock 4.6 L with my G-tech PRO it was in the evening perfect temp plus my massive 295's in the rear hook up good, My only mods are a K&N Filter and flowmaster exhaust this was last year . This year will be different once I have the BLOWER installed and my HP will be around 570-600 depending on the tune. (=

You gonna build the motor? 570-600 is going to blow the 4.6's guts all over the road, first try.

Sure here is the kit I have , btw 600 Hp is the upper limit without forging
a 4.6 with a good tune = no problem. My future plans include forging
the 4.6 the block is good for 1000 rwhp no problem .

Look that's at the crank. Far from rear tires. And you will scatter the stock motor with 600 at the tires.

FYI for someone talking about removing .5 seconds. I went from mid to low 6s to 5.5 (with lots of wheel spin) changing from 2.73 to only 3.55 in a V6 auto.

I get real bad wheel spin when I have it in sport mode TC on my auto 5.0 with stock 3:15 gears, still bad even with the TC turned fully on.
