New to forum. need help with f/i

Hello All

I'm new to this forum so go easy on me I'll try and keep it short.
I finally pulled the trigger and got rid of my turbo jetta and bought a 2013 gt premium 4 months ago. Since none of my friends have boosted 5.0's and can't seem to find anything on the internet I had a question about the block and internals. In the next few months I plan getting vortech's centrificul superchager kit. I was wondering what the whp capabilties were on the stock block, pistons, and rods ? I aiming to get around 600 SAFE whp with supporting mods, no more. Would I need a stronger block? forged internals? Any info from you f/i guys would be great as I would rather not blow my engine with in the first 6 months of having my car..

Thanks

There are a good bit of boosted 5.0 users on here. Seen some with 700hp. Isn't really a set number yet as many people just got them and cannot afford to boost right away.

Brett Greene, sorry I should have clarified "supporting mods." upgraded clutch, o/r x pipe, long tube headers, and possibly boss 302 intake manifold. So you don't think I would need to touch the internals or the block to safely have 600rwhp?

You will need forged internals, fuel pump, injectors, etc. Supporting mods

Black on boss, The kit comes with a fuel pump, injectors and most everything I need for basic install. I'm ordering from beefcake racing. So along with the supporting mods I just mentioned in the last post, you think forged rods and pistons would be enough? or would I need to get a stronger block also? people have varying definitions of forged internals.

The block will hold but the internals won't.

You don't need forged internals to run 600 RWHP..

Need is a vague word. Can you run 600 RWHP on stock internals, yes. The question becomes how long before they fail. Just my .02

BoB with these 5.0s 600 horsepower is actually safe. You can push 560 to the wheels on 6 pounds. Around 650 is pushing the limits of these.

The tint pro guy is running 600 HP and is on a very safe tune. Stock motor and roush gives a 3 year 36k warranty. I don't think they would if they felt that pushed the limits

He has 595 to the wheels. He can't hook on the 20s that's why. He ran faster before he supercharged it

This was a few days after the original tune. It was about 10 degrees cooler if I remember correctly.

And I have a Roush blower, with every typical 5.0 mod you can think of.

OP, I think you'd be much happier with a Roush blower. Either F/I will put a grin on your face but I've always liked and trusted the TVS blowers. This isn't a debate, I picked up Roush and am direct with them because they have a huge quality control measure they keep in place. You can just swap a roush on (no boss mani needed which would save you 500), with a good tune and honestly not have to worry about it for 100k miles.

Kenne bell mammouth 2.8lc! It may be a bitmore coin but its a badass kit. Its a bigger blower so if you ever wanna build your motor and really up the boost and go crazy with hp you have the potential for insane growth. Not saying you can't with the tvs but it's just another kit out there to look at. They are both great blowers just another option.
