Strut Tower Brace for a 2013 GT

Just upgraded my V6 for a GT...it's an entirely different car, awesome!

Has anyone installed a strut tower brace? What difference does it make? Can it be a standalone upgrade? Is it hard to install?

Thanks for any advice...happy holidays!

Sure can. It tightens up the chassis..less body roll/flex. Oh, and looks badass! Lol Check ebay, usually a couple on there. Only 4 nuts I believe. Total install time, 5 mins!

My GT Premium came with one, so I can't really comment on improvement with chassis flex/body roll.

But I am looking for a black one instead of the factory GT Premium strut bar, I'll probably either get the ford racing SB, or the SR strut bar. My GT Premium still has a bit more roll/flex than I'd like.

No, it isn't a hard install, just bolt the SB on using the supplies washers, don't over tighten them though. It can be a standalone upgrade.

Mine came with one from the factory. I removed it for funs one weekend - the bodyroll was a bit more noticeable without it on. If you're looking to reduce it alot, look into beefier sway bars or springs.

A sway bar isn't a bad idea if you want a little bit less roll for relatively cheap. Install is 4 bolts, shouldn't take more than maybe 10mins getting the old bolts off, positioning the bar, and tightening them down again. 10mm socket wrench is all you'll need.

Factory strut bar is the best looking IMHO and there really isn't much difference one brand to the other. I got rid of mine cuz I upgraded to Boss manifold. I'm sure there are many ppl selling theirs. This is with Plasitidip

I like that the SR uses all 4 bolts on each strut tower.

I didn't have that much appreciation for it until I took it off getting stuff in the engine bay custom painted. I drove the car a couple days with the strut bar off and really noticed it

If you're pushing the car it makes a difference , helps the handling of the car....and it's a great looking piece under the hood with all the styles colors and finishes ....

Funny. The engineers say it does. If fact, if I remember correctly, it stiffens it up about 10%.

Interesting, you'd think ppl that actually race for a living would have heard of them then. If the front was actually flexing, ppl that don't have them hood's would be messed up.

Does anyone have any links to prove their findings, if it does or does not make a difference? Or is this all a matter speculation and opinion?

My opinion is that it would increase structural rigidity which would add strength. I don't know if it'll make a difference in handling though. I can't tell.

Just years of reading. Tell me a racer that has never heard of a strut tower brace. And not an internet racer either...

I am going to be posting a '13 GT Tower Brace, 5.0 Intake Cover, and Coil Covers & Radiator Cover and paint them to some color them. Haven't decided what would be the best color, or most sought after color scheme to use though. What color is your car?

I don't know why they would do that? Glad I got one when I did! Wouldn't trade it for any other one
