2014 Mustang GT questions

Fellas,
New to the forums and to mustangs in general. I currently own a 2013 f150 fx4, awesome truck btw. But I'm planning on trading it in for a new '14 mustang gt. Wondering what options should I pick up. The gt track package seems like a must have. Anything else I need to look for? Thanks!

Doesn't matter.... You'll start throwing money to customize / improve performance within weeks. Hope you have deep pockets.

Within a year you'll have a blower, coilovers, control arms, new wheels/tires, forged internals, headers, off road pipes, roll cage, no carpet, no interior panels, etc....

The only suggestion is get the recarro seats...

You're thinking of the glass roof. Not worth the $2000 IMO

Mine had everything that an auto could have expect for bigger brakes and glass roof.

I just don't think the Glass Roof is worth what they want for it, but yeah, get the Recaro's.

Got mine with the glasstop. Love it! It's the reason I waited for 3 months to get a factory order.

Make sure to get the track pack....

Larger Boss 302 Radiator
Torsen Diff w/3.73's
Brembo Front Brakes

I'd say better rate springs but you will probably want to replace those as it sits up like a 4x4

Depends how you plan to use it... My must have options were premium package, brembo, and 3.73 gears.

Honestly i could live without the track pack, 3.73's aren't the friendliest highway gear (2600rpm @80mph) and the springs aren't that much of a difference. If i could have done it over again i would have just found a premium with the brembo brake package.

3.73 work fine for me on the highway. I can still get good gas mileage. The Torsen diff, Boss 302 radiator and Brembos are definately worth it.

I average around 18.5 mpg with 3.73's and my daily commute is 90% highway. Only time i'll see anything in the 20's is on road trips.

I almost all city driving and still get 18mpg even with my heavy foot. Much better than my 300C SRT8 which got 11mpg.

I don't understand this logic. Yes, a Premium would be a nice luxury to hop in and drive every day, but not having some shiny goodies or leather seats will not hinder my drivability or hurt my back because the seats are cloth. If I'm missing something here let me know but I don't get it...

Asked myself that too.I mean it's nice to have a premium but it's not that important, as long as he gets that 5.0; base or premium he won't regret it.

Don't care for all the lighting options on the premi's, BUT would have liked to get the tech or SYNC package for sure. Not that big of fan of leather recaro's compared to the cloth either. The leather looks better, but not as grippy as the cloth/alcantra recaro's.
Great Car would be: Base GT w/ Track Pack / Brembo Brakes / Recaro's & Sync.

Another thing that I found curious. At my local ford dealership, for every manual they seem to have five autos. Why so many automatics. Maybe it's just me but seems like automatic takes a lot of the fun out of them.

If you were thinking auto, you might as well get a 6 cyl. Auto in a 5.0 is almost sacrilegious

Depends on what you want to spend - the premium cost vs what it had wasn't worth it for me. I got the tech package to get SYNC and the Brembo option (which has everything the track pack does except for extra cooling and the torsen diff).

I love the 3.73s, but my commute isn't very long which hurts my mileage (avg around 19) - on longer trips I can get 24 with no issue though.

Keep thinking that... All the way up until you run into someone who can drive a stick. Automatics take very little driving skill and input at the track.

But I agree... The current gen autos are better than any previous Ford auto. AOD and AODE were probably Ford's worst auto transmissions.

besides track pack the other package I had to get was the comfort pack, my wife at 5-3 in the manual passenger seat would be staring straight into the dash, not good. with the comfort package she can raise her seat high enough to see out of the veh, besides heated seats are great in the winter.

seems track pack, comfort pack in a premium GT isn't a very common combo.

looked like the 15 was going to have the heated and cooled seats from other models. I know I love them in our 2011 F250 lariat

Get a base GT with leather racaros, brembos, tech package to save on weight. Then put in twin turbo and upgraded suspension. Or get the gt500 and be done with it. IMHO
