Auto Trans: Clicks When Starting From a Stop

When in Drive or 2, when I come to a complete stop and get back on the gas quickly I get a click sound.

If I hesitate before getting back on the gas, there is no click.

If I use SelectShift and down shift to 1st gear before I'm completely stopped, there is no click.

This leads me to believe the transmission has not quite completed it's downshift to first gear before I accelerate. Or, maybe it's between 2nd and 1st or a false neutral. It's as though the trans is dis-engaged for a split second right at the time of the stop.

Anyone have a similar problem?

Dave

I have that issue as well. I really enjoy using the sport mode and manually shifting at times. I am nervous when it does that click though. I try not to downshift at all for fear I'm going to mess up my car. Sometimes even in D it hesitates at a stoplight. I asked the service department about manually shifting the auto, they said its fine to downshift with it. I'm kinda hesitant still about it though because i have been told it isn't good to downshift an auto.

Thanks for your reply. This must be an unusual problem since I can't find any similar threads.

Do you have a tuner? I'm wondering if a tuner would help.

Thanks,
Dave

No tune, I have read that the tunes change the shifting though. Probably going to look into one this spring. I feel better that you posted this, now I know others have the same thing going on. I should have got a stick!
