remote start engine shut off fix

If this is old news disregard.
The engine shutting off is aggravating when you open the door.
This worked on my 14 GT automatic

1 Find the over ride button (taped to a wiring harness near the computer plug in port.)
2 Turn ignition on.
3 Press brake and hold button at same time for 10 seconds. Horn will blow 3 times. Release brake and button.
4 Press button till horn blows 4 times. Release.
5 Press button till horn blows 5 times. Release
6 Tap brake 7 times till horn blows 7 times
7. Press remote once.
8 Turn off ignition.

It worked for me. If it doesn't work for you go to UTUBE and Google Mustang remote start over ride and find guy with 2013 Mustang convertible

Would you be talking about a aftermarket or factory remote start.

Factory remote

I ordered my 14 GT premium with automatic and remote start. After owning several GM cars with remote start, I was spoiled by remotely starting, getting in and driving off.
Ford is annoying in that the engine shuts off when the door is opened, thus I wanted a "fix." I came across this and it worked for me.

My 2005's remote start doesn't shut off when I open the door. The one thing I don't like about it is that when you unlock the car the courtesy lights don't turn on, and when you lock the car the lights stay on for a minute or two before fading off. I want them to come on when I unlock the car and turn off instantly when I lock the car.

this didn't work on my 2014 mustang GT, now the remote start won't work it goes through the motion but gives me four chirps on the horn,

going to have to take it to the dealer today to have them reprogram it,
should never have messed with it,

I tried too. Messed it up. There is a dealer work around. Your selling dealership should hook you up. Mine did , works great now

I really wanted to add it, but I don't want to carry around 2 FOBs on my keychain.

I was hoping they could swap & give me like an F150 key/remote, to use for remote start and I'd just lose the trunk popping on the key.

I don't understand why this isn't possible. It seems like everything else in my car is identical to my 2012 F150 FX2.

Then again, the same dealership told me I could not add the OEM back up camera spoiler to my car, & I'd have to go to an aftermarket stereo place to get them to do a license plate style install. And the stereo places said I needed a LockPick.... once again wrong. (just needed to program the Nav brick with the correct build as data from an identical car's VIN that has back up camera also.
